NetPets.Org's MilitaryPetsFOSTER Project Finds Caring Homes for Dogs,
Cats, Birds, Horses and all Other Pets for Military Personnel on Orders.N. Myrtle Beach, September 19, 2001 - The NetPets.Org's, MilitaryPetsFOSTER Project has been created to be the liaison and overseer between those, in the military who have to place their Pets and the Foster Homes all over this country, Asia, Europe, Canada and Cuba. This is a free service, as is the actual fostering of the Pets.
This Project was born out of the desire to be both patriotic and a deep humanitarian concern for the Pets. The Project brings a much needed and viable alternative from what happened during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. At that time the Armed Forces personnel, who had nowhere to place their Pets, were left with no other option except to put them in the animal shelters. A good percentage of these pets were put to sleep, while the others were adopted out. Either way, the military personnel had to lose their Pets, forever! Now with the creation of the MilitaryPetsFOSTER Project the military’s personnel not only have an option, but they also have the peace of mind in knowing that they will be reunited with their beloved Pet(s) upon their return from their tour of duty.
To date we have fostered well over 9,600 pets for those servicemen and women in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy and all of these branches Reserves as well as the National Guard, AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service, NCIS (Navy Criminal Investigative Service) and the Military Severely Injured Joint Support Operations (at the request of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense). The MilitaryPetsFOSTER Project is listed with ALL the Military branches, their Reserve units, the National Guard, the Coast Guard as well as the Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services units and the United Way chapters. Mr. Albin has been interviewed by the DoD’s PA office, the Navy News Service, mentioned in the ROA's (Reserve Officers Association) newsletter, the ESGR's (Employer Support Of The Guard & Reserve) newsletter and it will be listed and recommended in all the branches of the Armed Forces magazines, beginning with their next issues. This Project has been in newspapers, the AP, UPI, NPR and Reuters wire services and on numerous radio and TV shows.
The Project has also been written about in the AKC website and in DogWorld, Dog Fancy, PetLife, Animal Watch, Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, Readers Digest, Time, Newsweek, USA Weekend, Fine Living, Prevention, Womans World and hundreds of other pet and non pet related magazines. With tens of thousands of volunteer Foster Homes that have already pledged their support to this project, many more are still needed. We are actively publicizing this need on the Internet and all other available media.
Currently, NetPets.Org is actively seeking much-needed corporate sponsors and private donations for the MilitaryPetsFOSTER Project through its public charity.NetPets, Inc. is an all volunteer non profit organization.
