Hi All - Essex Animal Freedom is organising a protest outside the Namibian Embassy on the 19th. If any of you can show support for this it would be great, and please take some pics and please fw me any copies of newspaper articles so that I can publish it widely here - wish I was there with you - Francois.
These are the details of the protest, which is being circulated widely in the UK. We'll get a media release circulated soon.
Protest against the Namibian Seal Slaughter
Wednesday 19th July @ 12.00
Another sick seal slaughter!
Unlimited vast deserts and an annual quota of 300 days of sunshine, is exactly what draws travellers to one of Africa's most intriguing destinations. However, what these travellers do not get to see, is the second largest, and, what the ex-director of IFAW-South Africa has called, the cruellest seal 'hunts' in the world. A 'hunt' which will see thousands of seal pups killed by clubbing, bow and arrow and by being stabbed in the chest. Many of these baby seals will still be suckling on their mothers when they are massacred, with milk pouring from their young mouths..........
This year could see around 60,000 baby seals and 7,000 adult males, slaughtered in Namibia.
Struggling to free itself, this sealer plunges the knife into the chest of this
7th month old baby seal, its mothers milk pours out ..
. . . it continues to wriggle and suffer long after - 60 000 of them
