Some good news for Romanian dogs!!
Dear Romanian Animal Lovers,
There is SO MUCH happening! I hope you will find this news as exciting as we do!
FROM ROMANIA:
Dr. Ileana has given me the latest report of the spay/neuter surgeries. Thanks to the Society to Protect Animals Abroad (SPANA), these animals will live a happier, healthier life and will not have to witness their offspring suffering.
Invoice: July 29, 2006
Spayed 92 cats
Spayed 110 dogs
Neutered 32 cats
Neutered 8 dogs
Plus - performed numerous emergency treatments for citizens who could not afford payment.
Dr. Ileana is highly trained. In 2004, the Humane Society of the United States Rural Area Veterinary Services went to Galati, at the request of Romania Animal Rescue, to train Dr. Ileana on pain-free surgical techniques. In March 2006, Dr. Ileana was sent by RAR to the Mayhew Animal Home in London, where she received intense training on early age spay/neuter and other procedures. Being as highly skilled as she is, Dr. Ileana has now volunteered to share her knowledge with veterinarians throughout Galati. She herself has offered to train vets so RAR can keep our valuable funds solely for spay/neuter. She is a wonderful person, and we are honored to have her on board!
Mr. Cenac from the city hall shelter is very grateful to RAR for providing him with flotation heaters to keep the water at the shelter from freezing this next winter. Thanks to our donors, YOU, this was possible.
Attached is a story that Dr. Ileana submitted to me with the hopes that it will be of interest to others around the world, shedding a light on what is REALLY HAPPENING in Romania..... the attachment is graphic, but real.. This only emphasises the importance of spay/neuter. Unwanted dogs will always face these problems in shelters. We need to focus on sterilization.

Finally, Ana Marie is still living happily with Rory and Nancy. I hope to send you all photos soon, but I don't want to tie up your computers with attachments(as I have been known to do!).
