Road Home Rescue, updated news bulletin, please pass on...
Dear all,
I'm passing on a message from Howard Loftlin, aka Zeke, from Road Home Rescue, please cross post and help all you can to place the remaining animals in forever homes. I know it would take a miracle to keep this safe haven running now but we can at least help the animals to be loved and cared for in the light of this sad event, news below -

I need to tell you all this to start with. If our concert does not go well we are going to be one of the many TN. groups to fold. Working the appalachians is not easy and we are the only Safe Haven shelter for domestic violence animals in Tennessee. We are in a community that you cant pay people to take dogs in (not that I would, but it's true.) This area was even turned down by a major spay and neuter group due to the local vets protesting so loudly about free spay and neuter though they are all booked up for weeks at a time. Our largest community (a retirement community does not allow fencing, it detracts from the golf course and such.) We have seventeen golf courses yet not enough volunteers to help, not just our group, but the other groups that are human based. If this does not go well I will need help in emergency placement of the animals I have 4 Katrina and 6 domestic violence animals. Thousands of dogs are euthanized each year in a county of only 20,000 people. I dont mean to be morbid but this a heads up. I have operated TN's only Safe Haven (Domestic Violence animals,) program here for 5 years. BY Friday we will know if we can exist. A friend just called me from the venue and said to try and keep a positive attitude. I will but please be ready to help me if things go wrong. I know many of you are and will be far away but keep us in mind please. www.roadhomerescue.org
Unfortunately we will be closing since we did not raise enough to stay open BUT, the dogs we have will be adopted out with your help and I can spend my time on writing about my 14 years in this (literal,) shit, since I have a book deal!!!! And I will be going home to my native Texas. I know we saved over 1000 animals here in 5 years and no telling how many human lives, so I will pay off our debts and move on! Best of luck TN. YOU need it! TN's only safe haven shelter in the state is GONE. So TN you just joined the 5 states that have none, I wont mention names.
THE ZEKESTER HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!

Hey everyone~
Well; a sad day has arrived....Howard (Zeke) had a huge concert yesterday to try to keep the only domestic violence shelter in Tn up and running....and they didn't make enough $$. They are closing.
Those of you in the Best Friends network know him from his topic of "I saved them and they saved me right back" fame... in the NMHP, "Calling All Heroes..." community forum.
I am not even sure that even if each of you at this point crossposted around the world and back for donations, if they'd get enough $$ to stay afloat....though I suppose we can hope. But I believe at this point, he is going to need assistance with animal placement ASAP. Please-can we somehow rally together for this great shelter/sanctuary? Even if we can't get enough donations for them to stay afloat, let's make SURE those animals find rescue and homes! They've suffered enough before they came to him....and they had permanent safety with him....can we help him keep them safe quickly?
Thank you,
Kathy
