Dog and Cat Fur Trade in China, urgent!

Anti Fur Society Group:

The European Parliament is finally inclined to ban cat/dog fur
imports into Europe. However, if the law is passed as is, the
loophole (see below) will simply defeat its purpose. This loophole is
similar to the $150 loophole we have in the US where cat/dog fur
importation is illegal, but imports under $150 do not have to be
labeled as fur--Cat/dog fur is part of the so called "budget" fur so
most of them cost less than that!

The loophole in Europe will allow for fur from dogs or cats raised
for food in China. According to the email below, many European
countries have already rejected this loophole--which is a good sign.
Nevertheless, we need to keep the pressure ever so politely so this
loophole is rejected by 100% of the European countries. Scroll down
for more information.

Below is a letter sample for you to edit, or send as is, to the head
of the European Parliament whom, I was told by reliable source is the
key person to write to.

The Anti-Fur Society group will be sending a letter representing
about 1000 people who signed the petition. If you wish to be on that
list, please send your name, country/city and email to:

If Europe passes this ban without the loophole, chances are we'll be
seeing the end of the dog/cat fur farms in China. Remember this: NO

Dear Mr. Kyprianou,

As you are aware, over two million cats and dogs are raised under
deplorable conditions in Asia, particularly China, and then
strangled, stabbed to death or skinned alive for their pelts. These
skins and furs are used in products sold throughout Europe. As a
human being I find this unacceptable. While the US, Australia and
five EU nations: Italy, Denmark, France, Greece and Belgium have
banned this fur trade, the EU as a whole has rejected requests from
virtually every country in the world, to ban the import, export, sale
and production of this merchandize. Without a complete ban this
horrific trade will continue to taint Europe now and for years to
come. The Matrix Chambers, a prominent UK law firm has issued a
ruling that an EU ban on cat and dog fur would be justified under the
EC treaty and it would not cause a WTO trade issue.

Not only is the cruelty intolerable but I feel strongly that these
products with fraudulent labels are harmful because of chemicals used
in fur production. It is also painfully wrong to submit non-humans to
the type of cruelty found in Chinese fur farms.

This letter is to respectfully ask that as a new leader in the EU
Commission, you ban cat and dog fur trade immediately, and
completely. The loophole in the law currently under discussion if
passed as is, will simply defeat the purpose of a law which is being
created to ban dog and cat fur trade in Europe.

Implementing powers
The following may be adopted in accordance with the procedure
referred to in Article 5(2):

1. provisions on the use of analytical methods to identify the
species of origin of fur;

2. provisions which derogate from the prohibitions provided for in
Article 1 for such fur or products containing such fur

- which is labelled as originating from cats or dogs that have not
been bred or killed for fur production or

- which are personal or household effects being introduced in

Hi Maria,

Good work you are doing, thankyou.

I've been greatly disturbed too, by a lot of things, like for about the past 35 years and in fact, even longer than that.

A bit hard to explain, I mean I am 49 years young, and that means, the amount of time spent in a physical form on this planet, true age, of a soul, I know, is something different.
So, okay, I have been disturbed recently, very much, by that skinning alive of what Westerners know as PETS, cats, dogs in China, I saw the video and I knew it wasn't going to be good before I watched but you surely know how it is when we know something but we do not want to believe it. So I went to that link via Mc Cartney's and I saw a little animal up about 5 feet from the ground completely skinned and I just could not believe it, I mean, I knew what I was seeing but I just could no believe that a human being could be that cruel, and, the f----r were laughing too because that little animal, once furry little animal, made such a poor piiful little noise, such was the extremity of fear that is was in, it sounded HUMAN, (there was no difference between animal and human at this level of sheer and utter fear) the sound it made, it was the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. And even weeks after, I still kind of could not believe what I'd seen, I mean, it was so bad it did not get a second look from me, because I just couldn't bear it.
They showed the animals dogs and cats being so badly tortured, thrown in metal cages from trucks right onto the ground their paws sticking out twisted.
I told my dad, when I was 3 that he shouldn't take part in any unkindness, but when I realised they'd been feeding me animals, that had to lose their soul for me in order for me to eat, I hated this world for that, which told me this was okay, and right, and well, we all know what we become, and me, I am no better then, but I tried to resist the cruelty, it made no sense to me, and I did not need any school or teacher or grown-up to tell me anything, in fact, all as they taught me was to accept things that go against natural reasoning power of higher love which I believe babies are born with.

I stopped eating meat when I was 15, i mean as a child I was forced to accept that we had to eat it and had to kill animals, that day, when my dad tried to drum it into my head made me feel so sick and nauseous, I was only small who was I to fight against my dad's words, and I think this is the problem for everyone because when we become adults I mean by the time we are adults, most of us (meaning nearly ALL) have lost any childlike inborn innocence and real true and vital logical power of thought and then here within this whole tangles web we see the cuurent state of world affairs and how it is created, yes, by the forcing of bad onto children generation upon generation, to be made to close the eyes and at the same time most imporetantly the heart, and now, we are facing a world, that will become immpossible to exist in, everything destroyed because people are so very stubborn and greedy, greedy in love because they are so fearful they cannot face the facts and think, as long as I am ok, as long as MY family is ok, as long as MY child is ok, but it is this mind-set which has caused the whole system now to be at breakinbg point and those who have tried so long to get the message through were shouted down. If I need to point fingers I would have to say, it is greatly a concern for the merchants of the earth who deceived every nation.

Thank you everyone for adding your voices and hey Terry - we all have days like that - it is what is said that counts :) We are all living in one huge zoo - with RULES RULES RULES - some zoo's worse than others but at least we all have a voice and we can stand up for what is right - we don't always win but at least we try :0

Yes, I too havce always kept on with what I just knew was right, back even when people who refused to see, put others down for even trying. It has to do with being aware, I count myself blessed to have become aware of things, which in tuen changed my life, my way of looking at things, and we know anyhow, it does'nt mean life became easier it is just once we have our eyes opened it is very hard to close them again, I would never want to, even if having the eyes open makes life tough at times. I don't care about having been ridiculed for being different, I always felt great pity for people who tried to criticise and invaliditade something I knew was not any kind of trend or fashion but, having to do with the essence of our existence and i believe people who did try to make a difference have nbow been proved correct beyond all doubt, anyone knows now that our environment is suffering and it all connects to our ways of living, our consumeristic societies that lived now and refused to think about consequences until it is actually, very well maybe, too late.
Like a disease that has progressed too far from which to be able to recover from.

I hope we do now change drastically as human race/force and take on the element called responsibility and change, because it is rather too little and rather, too late the measure being taken now by governments.
Drastic measures are needed now. Climate change is going to be a nightmare for future generations.

I try t remember to show gratitude what goes around comes then back around eh.

Silly how we forget little things the little things that make all the difference.
I apologise though for my poorly written last post, I must have been tired, I mean as far as spelling and using words that may be found in an English dictionary because seeing a few of mine again I realised I must have invented them, hi hi, sorry, ''invalidate'' would be adequate, rather than my invention and warping of it, I won't repeat what I wote, we know how infectious words are, people muight start copying me. Yes, we are all so vulnerable in a way, I believe becauise no matter how tough an exterior people put up, perhaps as part of their defence mechanism they took on, most likely and in most cases at an early age already as in "barriers and walls"" nevertheless, people cannot control entirely the essence of their being, not if they allow things to run away with their lives, and so not be in the driver's seat, being conscious I mean and knowing ourselves.
I believe this knowing ourselves is the key to harmony in our battered and torn world the one that is so beautiful.
Nature is not always pretty but then there is pretty and pretty, there is ugly and ugly, I think ugly is that thing that causes people to cause mnore suffering than there already is, I mean let alone from natural disaster but I believe we all are on a journey and there will be peace, peace will come, and what appears on the outside may not be what is truly representative of the inner mechanisms of life.
Like that song, it just came to mind, ''I believe in magic to make a young girl smile'', I can't even think which one it is but the song is magic, the magic's in the music and the music's in me oh magic.
Well, I just woke up and so it is top of the morning from me to you, internet draws us through all kinds of time-warps, we talk to people who are going off to sleep whilst we are just waking up.
I must try to have patience when sending these posts because once posted, if I'm not wrong, we cannot correct any mistakes, and on a second look I find my stuff looks awful.
