Sad news, Road Home Rescue closing
Dear all,
as you may have read in our news section over the last few months many of us were supporting the work of Road Home Rescue, an animal shelter primarily taking in dogs and cats from domestic violence situations where their owners could no longer keep their pets. From the safety of Road Home's shelter in Tennessee, owner and manager Mr Howard 'Zeke' Loftin cared for and housed the animals until such time as their owners could take them back, or in some cases pets were rehomed. Over the years Zeke was able to shelter and find new homes for thousands of animals whose owners had fallen on difficult times. Today we thank this wonderful, caring man for all his good work and wish him well as he has the heartbreaking task of closing Road Home for the last time and re-building his life. You are a hero Zeke and we wish you the very best for the future.
Thank you for all the lives you helped to heal.
With love
from Maria & Paul xx
Message from Zeke -
Since many of my friends have written messages and or sent donations, but are not actually on my friends list at myspace a repost would be appreciated. 5 years of hard work and long hours, often 7 days a week. I tried my best I SWEAR I DID! But with my mom dying and lack of funding I am forced to close Road Home down. Dont send money, it is too late. I am the only one willing to pick up the dog poop here and do the 100 other things that seem to pop up each day. I have adopted out all but two of the domestic violence animals and they are here at home with me. I promised that I would not be a shelter that screamed, "I have to have homes for 30 animals YESTERDAY." I have fulfilled that promise. Now over a thousand dogs and cats, iguanas, rabbits, hamsters and siamese fighting fish later.....it is simply over. Nobody's heart is more broken than mine, I assure you. I thank all of you from literally around the world who helped one of the poorest states in the nation have services for the animals of domestic violence victims for these years. Unfortuantely Tennessee now becomes one of only four states in the union to have no services for these animals. I am telling all of you before the press release. We would have not made the last year without my Myspace friends and the musicians who were always there for the animals. I think we all did the best we could! I am leaving you with this film of Road Home Animal Rescue.
