Esperanza's story -
A little galgo arrived at our shelter who is very badly hurt
Another innocent victim of over breeding by the galgueros with this breed who suffers so.
We have named this little galga "Esperanza" (meaning "Hope"), because hope is what we have that she will be able to recover. By all means, we will give it our best try.
Esperanza, only 4 months old, knows what it is to suffer. She was hit by a car and she stayed for a month at a petrol station in a tourist village known for its beaches, hotels, golf and for its huge quantity of abandoned animals..... Chiclana de la Frontera, Cadiz (Andalusia).
She can not move due to the pain, and she has not been able to eat enough food. It seems that she has a very injured hip.
In the pictures you can see how terribly thin she is, and we are awaiting the results of her blood analyses from our veterinarian.
Today our little galga "Esperanza" left our shelter, and we took her to the town of Sanlucar de Barrameda where Edu, the veterinarian who works with SOS Galgo, will have keep her until she has completely recovered. She still faces a number of operations on her little hip, as we mentioned in the first email, which is broken. Our little dear is another innocent victim of the over breeding that the galgueros practice on this poor suffering breed who are totally overlooked by the authorities . But we are sure that under the care of Edu (a very good veterinarian) and the help from an excellent organisation, she will recover and will find a nice family where she'll receive all the love and affection that she never got from the hands of galgueros.
