Facebook Flame Wars Will Never Be the Same
So I got into it with some guy who hates AI and the people who use it. Said I wasn't a real artist. So I created this just for him!

The Collaborator (AI production)

This was too much fun! ??

You had me at:

'I'm an artist,
I am the antichrist,
I'm an evil anti art son of a bitch'

Yeah, not a fan of AI, here. It is a toy at best. I find it strange that we are supporting it on IMP, which has always indulged the creativity of the lesser known artist. What's the point of working out chord progressions and melodies if I can just feed a prompt into a fucking bot. An oversaturated market of effortless hot garbage is going to overtake the most human of art forms, and I cannot get behind it.

Actually, Wes, I did create it. Don't come at me dissing my musical skills and the many methods I use to create music. My lyrics, my prompt, my idea. And I can even play it on my acoustic guitar and sing it.

I don't disagree with you, Mike. But to me, AI is a very useful tool for listening to a song in multiple genres while you are developing it. I just treat it like the computer game it is, and have a great deal of fun with it. Most of what it spits out is very generic, anyway. I don't think real artists have much to fear from it. Heck, I think it ends up making us sound better at the end of the day. But I refuse to be left behind by any technology. So I play with it often.

My last word to my AI haters. I am honest and transparent about my use of AI. I always post in the song info the parts that are mine and those that are AI. I even label every AI track I post as an AI Production. So I am not trying to fool anyone or game the system. I am simply sharing my experimentations with my friends. Sometimes I use my own copyright-registered lyrics, and sometimes I use public domain literary works. I have even used AI-created lyrics. (See Land of the Free, Home of the Dead) And one more time - I am always transparent. So Happy FUCKING New Year and get off my nuts! Or my AI Avatar might write its next song about YOU!

Ha!Ha!Ha! Larree... If you weren't such an "invisible man" no one would "be on your nuts" right now. Maybe you should try to be less "transparent"? hahaha! -M-

Sorry for the aggressiveness of my previous reply; I was in my cups, as some say. I am ambivalent towards AI in a general sense, and am not keen on AI submissions, personally.... However, it can be fun to experiment with. But the drawback is that it produces music with relative perfection which, in some cases, can be discouraging to compete with. A friend of mine, who may frequent this site on occasion, used Suno to cover sone of his songs, and that much at least was rather intriguing. But I still view it more as a toy than a creative tool.

No one is ditching your skills or anything else, but why test the rest of us who hate shit like that. It's a slap in our faces! Why can't you just keep it to yourself if it's just having fun, why do you put it up here? it seems to me, you are promoting it! So am I to understand that you thought what Milly Vanilly did was OK & what most of the other Major Artists do is OK? The music on the net is turning into fake, fake, fake shit & it's because they are all to lazy or untalented to create their own music & sing their own songs. We here on indie music people create are own songs & that's what makes us separate from the shit out there! I watched some young guy on Youtube last night use AI & he played his own recorded idea song & sang on it & it sounded like most idea songs would sound, plain & ordinary & the guitar sounded cheap, then he put the song into Suno & picked a few things he wanted it to do & wa la, it sounded like it was recorded by a pro record label.
One other thing I heard on the net, is the fact that if you use AI to create or help your song, it can claim copyrights to the song>

I'm just a guy who refuses to be left behind by any new technology. I find AI to be absofuckinglutely fascinating. I'm not "testing" you, or anyone else. WTF do you even mean? And if you feel "slapped in the face" because I am having fun posting my AI experimentations, well, I'm sorry your face hurts. But that is surely not my intention, so once again - WTF does that even mean, man? I'm not bragging about it, or belittling anyone. I'm just sharing some fun experiments with a new technology.

Milly Vanilly? What do they have to do with it? No, I have never once claimed to be singing any of my AI tracks. And re: copyrights. Whatever the internet told you about AI claiming copyrights is wrong. Only humans can claim copyrights. And as long as you are using your own music, you always own that. That does not mean the big bad AI won't "learn" from your music and add you to the machine, though. So be careful if you play.

Thanks Larree for you inspiring me. and getting me out of my doldrums. your idea being involved in learning about Suno Ai has assisted in my getting interested in music again. Now i have completed old songs of mine that have been sitting around and learning more how to use this other technology to help my own abilities. It has got me playing the piano again, old standards like moon river, shadow of your smile a taste of honey I have a gig list of 3-4 hours or more of these i used to play for private sets, gigs, clubs for background music. I have got licenses to record many and have released a number of covers of old standards already, i might do some using Ai assisted stylizing and get ideas to boost my own playing and elevate my piano chops
As many of you know, i have a lot of my own jazz tunes hear at imp and covers of a number of tunes
cheers and all the best on your own music and Ai assisted tunes

You need to look up on YouTube the rules on suno, you are completely wrong about copyrights as regards Suno. Anything you project into Suno can be owned or partially owned by Suno & you can only use it in a non monetary way! You seem to be giving Artists on here the wrong impression of Suno. I encourage anyone on here to investigate the rules or terms of use on Suno if you plan on used it. You will change your minds on it after reading those rules or terms of use. Enjoy!

By the way, on paid Sumo prescriptions, you have to share copyrights on any song you create through Suno & sell on spotify, Apple, Etc.Also your song (s) can be used by Suno to create other songs too!

Nope, no problems cause all my works have been registered at my PRO at SOCAN way back and copyright way before Suno came along, I have read up on all this , you are preaching to the wrong guy Wes.

As well as socan I belong to a number of other agencies where I have my royalties taken care of and deposited to my business account

No, Wes. Suno does not own my copyrights if I run my own registered songs through Suno. Most of my Suno experimentations involve PD music, anyway. smh

AI Overview
Suno AI owns the copyright to songs generated on their platform if you are on a free plan, but they assign ownership to you if you are on a paid Pro or Premier plan. Regardless of plan, you retain ownership of any original lyrics you provide.
Key Details on Copyright Ownership
Free Plan Users: Suno retains ownership of the generated music, allowing only non-commercial use.
Paid Subscribers: Pro or Premier subscribers own the songs they create and have rights to monetize them commercially.
Retained Rights: If you created songs while subscribed, you retain commercial rights even if you cancel your subscription later.
Lyrics & Content: You keep ownership of lyrics you input, but by using the service, you grant Suno a license to use your content for various purposes.
Legal Risks: Because Suno is currently facing lawsuits regarding its training data, fully AI-generated music may not be eligible for U.S. copyright protection.

Those Lawsuits against Suno have been dropped by WARNER MUSIC although Sony and Universal are still pending and details to resolve it are ongoing. Suno was saying it had the right to scrape the labels songs due to free use,

Songkick Acquisition: Suno also acquired WMG's concert discovery platform, Songkick, with the stated goal of deepening artist-fan connection

Independent Artists: Suno also faces a separate class-action lawsuit from independent artists, who allege that their work was also used without permission for AI training, I believe this one looks like it will fail from the latest news i have been reading

overall this will be resolved and we all win in the long run,

It will be eventually a good thing, and I am certain of that
