I propose
I propose a crowd funding effort by the artists and the fans to buy out IAC music.com and make it a true open site for artists to show what they can do. And retain any released music from the past.

It will never work.
I already deleted all but one song. I'm not happy.
See my post if you want to stay in touch. :)

Still a good suggestion though,
I think what would stop this happening would be trying to put a realistic valuation on the site, some think it is worth a lot more than is realistic.

I wouldn't know enough about the mechanics of the site to get involved with buying it out. How would you have confidence that those involved know what they're doing? I'm not saying it's not a good idea but the project would have to be launched in such a way that those buying in would have to feel genuine confidence in the people taking it over - if that makes sense!
It's very tricky indeed finding the right people in it for the music and making the site work properly and in a more up to date way rather than just what could be made out of it financially (which I imagine is zilch!).
People like me who've been around for several years still have no idea who runs it, who makes decisions (if any), yet it always seems to struggle along somehow. I love the place but would never be surprised if one day I logged in and there was nothing here!!
I hope that doesn't happen - I really do - but the reality of someone or some people taking it on with the necessary up to date nous seems to be fading. I'm very grateful to those who keep it limping along at least.

it is worth 11000 dollars last time i looked, There is a site that values websites and i do know many people who could sort this mess out. I am an IT drone and know other drones and they know others omg it is so tedious but workable. What i like to represent most of all is bands and artists who have something original to give. What i don,t want is the model i see in other sites that the band/artist is a commodity to be used by the site as they see fit

I would like to see more peeps views on this-----
90 views ON THIS THREAD
Only a handful of comments
The silent majority here, are the real power that keeps the site alive with their (FREE) original tunes and lyrics.
No way is anything going to change, with just Bryons 14 constant forum opinions.
Thanks Paul for the estimate of worth, $US11,000
what do others think??

People always quiet down when there is a mention of money. Especially a bunch of struggling indie musicians. However, there are enough artists on this site to make it affordable for the collective community at large. But I am not sure that enough people value the site the way the dependable 14 artists that are consistently active here do.
It always comes down to the bottom line questions. Do they want to sell? How much do they want? How much can we raise? Who takes on the operational responsibilities? How badly damaged is the system and how much would it cost to be repaired? yada, yada, yada! The list of unanswered questions are probably a mile long. Yet, I believe that anything is possible when people pull together and commit. In this case it would probably take a lot of people and effort.
Maybe if we could get some of those questions answered we could start the fundraising process with a clear and concise goal in mind. We could even do a Kickstarter project and invite all IAC artists to participate. Of course someone would have to write it all up with a well defined objective. Lots of stuff to ponder here. But it all comes back to getting those bottom line questions answered first. At this point we all may as well be whistling in the wind and not knowing if anyone is listening or cares to listen. Good idea though!
