170 year old piano improvisations!!
Well, my piano is 170 years old. Obviously these recordings are much younger than that!!!!
Here's the first two of many more from a selection of piano improvisations played on my 170 year old Kirkman upright piano. The aim is to capture the moment with a minimum of interruption. Therefore, a variety of recording methods have been used, most commonly my 3G iPhone with it's internal microphone. These recordings aren't perfect but the aim was to capture the moment rather than audio perfection. All glory belongs to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ for giving me the inspiration and instruments to praise Him with music.
I'm in the process of restoring this piano and, as you can see from the following photo, it is in AMAZING condition. It sounds every bit as good as it looks too. The internal mic in my iPhone really doesn't do it justice but I will be making some high quality recordings once I've completed the full internal restoration.
In the meantime, here's a photo of my piano and a link to the new station I have created for the improvisations I have recorded on it....

Cheers Chris. I have a heap more of these improvisations I'll be uploading soon.
Dan, I'm really eager to get the internal restoration on this piano finished. Then I'll do some recordings with my studio mics and upload them here. I have all the materials here now to get it done too. I just need to set aside the time and space to do it.

I restored an old Brambach about 30 years or so ago. Lot o work to do it right! Bought all the tools, pinboard tightening liquid (ha), etc. etc. Anyway, it's a lot of fun when it results in something, eh? Sold the ole madam when I got married. Oh, well.
