11:20
It is 11:20 and I sit in the dark of my house contemplating all that has happened in the last two weeks. We fired our bass player of 4 years, I am still not sure if I made the right decision on that, although, none of the guys could stand him and he was booking with another band so much that we were having to use a fill in on most all of our Saturday night gigs.
I am not sure how much more I have in me where performing is concerned, don't get me wrong I love singing for people, but, I just don't feel the magic I used to feel.... I haven't written a new song in weeks, I think I am depressed or some shit. ha ha .. I don't feel depressed, but I have no drive or muse lately. I guess I am in a slump. It seems the only excitement I have these days is sitting here listening to music at IAC. It is amazing how when you are feeling down or out, you can always find music that helps you feel the need.
My kids are going to school for the last day tomorrow, when my oldest goes back she will be junior, that has me sad too, in 2 short years she will be leaving me for school, I don't know how I am going to handle that. I guess all of us have to deal with that eventually, but when they are small you don't think about that part because it is so far off, but here I sit, on the doorstep of my first born leaving. She is such a beautiful person, I am so very proud of her. I hope that all her dreams come true. I hope both of my girls get all their dreams.

take some time off from performing. it will help! i took 5 yrs off, and was rejuvenated! also, made a decision 2 play only 1x per month. every time we play its fun - not drudgery.
last, too bad you parted ways with a band member of 4 yrs, but sounds like it was creating more work/stress for yourself with him there. i wonder how much time you spent finding replacements? i recently did the same thing with our sound tech. got tired of working around his schedule. sometimes long term relationships, albeit musical ones, are not productive :)

Hey Shane, thanks for the advice, yeah I have thought about that, taking time off, but I will have to wait until after the summer.. we are pretty much booked solid until then .. lol
We already had a replacement for him, who had been playing most of the gigs with us anyway, so we had no lag time, thank goodness, because we are pretty much booked every weekend ...
