A Generation of Laziness
Walking through life is hard enough without all the obstacles that we face today, but, having said that, We are failing as a generation. In the 60s people stood up, screamed and had sit ins to fight a war that had no meaning. Today, We are faced with the same situation in Iraq, and I see a few people standing up and saying things, but mostly, all I see is a bunch of people complaining and whining about all of it and doing nothing. Then we add to this the fact that slowly but surely all our rights as a supposed free society are being stripped away one by one, is there noone out there strong enough to lead this generation to do something about what is happening in our world today, does anyone care ?
I know as you are reading this you are saying to yourself, aren't you doing exactly what you are bitching about, and the answer is yes. I don't believe I have the energy to be that leader, I wish I did, but I just don't think I do, what I hope is that this leader will see this and say, she is right, and they will start moving towards helping us DO SOMETHING ...
Here are some of my complaints.. Number one, If Cigarettes are legal, why is it that smokers cannot even stand on a street corner outside, on the street in the outdoors and smoke a cigarette ? If smoking is a legal thing why is it that a smoker is made to feel like they are doing something illegal by smoking? If you are going to put all these restrictions on smoking, why not just make cigarettes illegal ... and why FORCE public establishments that are privately owned, to conform to the laws pertaining to something that is LEGAL. Here is the reason I feel I have a right to complain about this, polution, do you know how many cigarettes it would take to equal one ounce of the damage that pollution does to the atmostphere, or to the person standing next to you ? it is a very large amount. And you know what the really sad thing is, if I went into a non smoking establishment, and lit up a legal cigarette, I could be thrown in jail for smoking there. There is something seriously fucked up about that .
The second thing that really has me bothered is our right to speak out against something that we don't agree with. If I have a problem with how my President is running the Country, I am no longer allowed to do so without receiving a deeath threat. Case in Point, The Dixie Chicks, or Natalie Maines to be exact. Did you know that she received a letter after she said those dreaded words on stage that told her that she better shut up and just sing or her life would be over ?? There is something seriously wrong with that .. I believe it is everyones right to be able to speak their mind if they do not agree ... and I don't think anyone has the right to try and shut someone up, if they don't agree ...
So, having said these things.. I hope that I am able to stir a few people up.. and hopefully get someone thinking about what we can do to change the fact that we are not a free society anymore ...
ALL I AM SAYING .... IS ... GIVE FREEDOM A GLANCE ...
