What happend to all the great music?
Did you notice that music isn't as good as it used to be? Is it because no one is making money in the music industry due to piracy?
Thanks for the feedback.

You're referring to what's on the mainstream, right ?

It may be a simple case of placing your ears
in the right place....like here at iac.... :)

I second Larry W. - and for a start, you could start off at his page and see what amazing byways of truly astonishing music are there to be explored on IAC

Hi, if you're talking about the plastic yo yo of mainstream, yep, I never listen to it unless I'm in someone else's car or I'm held prisoner LOL - as for Independent music if I had a 48 hour day every day I would never keep up with all the amazing music I can find on mp3 sites & personal websites, and I wish I had more money to buy indies cd's, the ones I have bought are my treasures, that's all I can say on this subject, there's a wealth of untapped gold as far as I can see/hear!

Yes I agree there are some great artists out there that the music companies are passing by because there is no money in the music business anymore.

Oh...theres TONS of $ in the music business still...they're just afraid to try to bank
on anything that's not a proven 'block-buster/cookie -cutter seller and the mainstream
radio stations are paid off to play and the mainstream public opens up their mouths
and listen to what they're fed and that's why most everything is what 'everybodys'
listening to and up for grabs is the same ol chicken pot-pie...if you're lucky you MIGHT
find a turkey-pot pie...man, this is makin me hungry...I gotta go and make myself a
fresh salad and a great sounding iac stew-bread submarine sandwich...heh

I notice that if a person listens to music and enjoys it, it is good music.
I notice that if a musician listens to another musician they are often holding the music they are listening to, to a standard that is all in the mind of the musician listening which don't mean squat.
I notice that if you listen in detail to todays music, commercial or not , there is a new way of doing things that requires allot of skill. And as a musician, if you passively listen to it, you will miss the sutlties of change in musicianship that make the music top notch.
JMHO,
Peace

as an old hippie turned trucker turned garndparent a few times over, i have found all the great music is right there, on IAC, Garageband, sonic and mixposure, I have made many new friends for an oldtoad.downloaded so many songs , received many indie cd,s and thoroughly enjoy what the NEW bands and solo artists are doing.
Mainstream music on radio is sad, mainly due to the fact that radio and advertisers killed the top 30 or 40 songs of week, where new folks got a chance.
As an old folk i got tired of listening to preprgram 4 hour segments of music that i have in my garage, i WANT new.
Now the studio greed mongrels have invented satellite radio and programmed same old stuff and some crappy shock jocks.
As i have just started on IAC and have a page up oldtoad, i am more than willing to listen to new young folks and indies instead of my garage room. (except of course Beatle stones and animals dc5 too of course
