You would think that using a more general interface like this would lead to GREATER free speech, since more people have a chance to express themselves.....and plus things can be edited easier. There's greater freedom in presentation.
Why are people so attached to the "forum" interface?
In any case, it's going to be a moot point, since from what I've heard, the Grand Central Station feature is going to make all of this seem terribly passé pretty quickly....

well, possibly the same reason they might not like a private IAC forum when they may have their own private forum. Some seek to do damage and want a wider audience for it. They may not like that they didn't make the Big 50 so their idea of free speech is to retaliate by posting garbage.
Course I'm not talking about anyone in particular, just saying this might be the difference.
