Bumdoser's Baba Luba
If there's a bigger fan of Bumdoser on this site, speak up. Cuz I'm claiming the throne. That said, the latest tune to make KIAC's Hitline (and why I've never had a tune on this chart is a mystery to me, but anyway...) is fatally undermined by cheap, off-the-rack drum programming. The hi-hat is not only cheezy and unbelievable, it's not in time and just undermines an otherwise great tune. OK, that's not the only problem with this recording. The guitar is buried under a layer of mud, but never mind, LISTEN to that vocal. Rock and funkin' roll my brothers. With authority.

If Bumdoser is producing this track this way on purpose to make a statement about studio-made sounds, then I'll give him points for that. I know he's self aware. But this approach still brings down an otherwise rock-solid track.

With the exception of the drums, it's vintage Bumdoser: namely Euro-cool with a Captain Beefheart-inspired vocal and a Lou Reed, back-to-basics rock beat. But please, for the sake of the tune, could you just boost the guitar like Iggy Pop is at the controls while you're in there fixing the drums? Cool ending by the way, a la David Bowie, don't touch that

And when it comes to Bumdoser, you can't separate his musical talent from his obvious fascination with cutting edge graphics. Look at the pictures, friends, it's clear he didn't grow up on this side of the Atlantic.

All hail Bumdoser! We should take up a collection so his next release features a kickass studio drummer. About 100 bucks would do it.

John, I am with you on Bumdoser, I love what he does,. the guy is a rockin cool cat
love sick was so sick , it was so good it was beyond rockin the groove,it was a killa tune, but as for you not making the hitline chart ever, that surprises me, well that too boggles the mind, I have made suggestions about that just recently for you to have something there, that being said, you are next in line to get up there, i am sure you will get some points with what you said, keep rockin it my friend

aw thanks bryon. ... yah 'lovesick' is sick. the video too. bumdozer rules! he knows what rock is all about.

i've got a new track called i'm mad (every little thing you do). I'm going to post it on IAC and petition to have this two minutes of rock mayhem posted on the Hitline. If that doesn't work, maybe I'll commission Bumdozer to write me something!
