nba finals: mavs in 6, sez me.
dallas has at least one reliable shooter in terry, a deeper bench, and a transition game. that's going to last them longer and serve them more consistently than miami's shooting triple-threat and shaq's "presence." any one of those power players goes down/out, and they could be screwed. you can't but respect a man who can fling you off the baseline into the combat zone by just standing there. but free throws can also make or break a game that's any kind of game, and in that realm shaq is equally a liability as he is a defensive asset. it almost breaks even, and miami can't be unaware of that.
i would like to see someone getting more aggressive in the paint. no post game to speak of. too much settling for outside shots that aren't connecting. could nowitzki not manage this, since his outside percentage is lagging? if he could do what nenad krstic so consistently does, like clockwork, in the post and midrange, dallas could be unstoppable. watch some tapes. ~ oops, i better not say that too loud!

what your assessment is missing is a realization that Shaq and Wade just have more mojo, are capable of taking over any series. Mavericks want to win bad too but only one team is capable of dominating this one.

i think what i'm saying is that shaq and wade can dominate anything with emotion, but you can't rely on emotional momentum or on any one player being hot over the course of a series, because sometimes you have a bad day and can't get that momentum going, plus half your games are on the road so you won't have the crowd. i think that the mav's deeper bench and broader stats will carry them when they don't have any one player dominating on a given night. remember how much stronger the west was this year than the east; the mavs can't have risen to the top of that without being able to hold their own through a series with a couple teams that have "bombs" going off, like, oh gee, say, the suns, as compared to their own slow steady burn. keep in mind both my fave teams are long gone, i got nothin riding on this, so i'm trying out my objectivity for a change. :) i'm also a relative rookie at assessing this particular sport, so bear with me.
