What is the ICAR?
One part joke, one part cult and one part common sense spirituality. The ICAR is a concept I developed as I was living in a campground outside Ellicot City, MD. As I studied Buddhism further I realized how similar the ideas that I thought I was pulling out of the ether was to the thoughts of the Eastern "masters".
I carried this little hardcover notebook around in my back pack in those days. In this notebook I would jot down random thoughts and the basic doctrine of Rodism (hey what kind of cult would I be if I didn't get my name in there as many times as possible).
Recently I rediscovered this book, and so I present to you the membership requirements of the Intergalactic Church of the Almighty Rod. You might find that you are already a member and just don't know it.
From the Book of Rod:
To Call Yourself A Memeber You Must:
1. Believe that society as a whole is a load of crap.
2. Be yourself at all times
3.Have an ideal, but dynamic outlook for the society in which you are a part.
4. Work to eliminate ignorance in your own way.
5. Help and love your fellow creatures, especially the ones you eat, they are keeping you alive.
6. Realize that there is a Force larger than you and know that you are a part of it(Here is a hint, it's not God or a god)
7. Never truly conform.
8. Work to eliminate ignorance within yourself(to think you are not ignorant, proves that you are)
9. Think positive at least 60% of the time, or two days a week, whichever is better.
10. Realize your creativity and use it for aesthetic, practical, or subversive means.
11. Know that you are without sin(with the exception of some ignorance) and carry on life without guilt.
That's it, pretty straightforward huh?
Ready to join the fastest growing religion since ever?
Fly the official flag. ;) .
