Poor Tony Snow
Seems he just can't make it on $186,000/year. He's resigning as White House Press Secretary because he has a kid to put through college, etc, and just can't do it on his federal salary.
Hey Tony, get a clue. Spend a day actually working for a living like most of us do in an economy that doesn't pay us anywhere NEAR what you make. Listening to you whine over your paltry $186K/year salary just doesn't cut it.
Just more proof how these jerkoffs in Washington don't have a clue.

Whether you like him or not, or his politics...It is important to note the Man is battlling cancer...I am sure, this had a little to do with it. Of course, some liberal minded media outlets led with the money, which on its face is agregious as most will never make $186 K. As for the Economy? People in Africa would Kill to live and work in this economy. I am not Republican, nor Democrat....I am independent in thinking and political affiliation. As for moving on to make more Money? who on this board would not do that given the opportunity?

Me ... I stopped searching for money long ago ... I left a very well paid job a few years ago on principle ... Didn't care much for making things that killed people ... Money is not everything ...

I am all for principle, that is far more important then Money. I agree with you there friend! Plus, a Job at the expense of Family, friends, and Health is worthless, as their is nothing more Valuable.

Yeah... at first I struggled with the decision ... I went from 100K down to zero in a split second ... but it was the best decision I ever made ... I could wake up everyday and actually look at myself again ... and my children are very proud of their "broke" dad, because I did something that I had always taught them ... don't ever sell out your principles ... 100K will never be worth a man's soul...

I don't think he got fired..I believe he is leaving for Health...and Yes Money. He is going back to Fox News where he was successful for landing the Job as Bush;s press secretary. He does have a recurring battle with Cancer of the intestines...so he may have no job in the near future. Loren, I too apologize for clogging your Blog...But I think its great when a Blog spurs conversation. Regards, Jeff

Guys, nothing to apologize about! Like you said, if a good discussion ensues, that's a good thing!
Look, I certainly feel bad for him and his cancer issue. That's something I don't want ANYONE to have to deal with. At issue though is the notion that he can't live on 186K, which is just insulting to many, many people with similar health problems who only make a fraction of what he does.

I do agree with you on the money issue... There is a very large gap between the haves and the have nots.... and a lot of it has nothing to do with excelling yourself, some were just born with silver spoons in their mouths (or gold spoons) ... and I don't think they really ever have had a clue....
The work hard and you'll get somewhere is pretty much a falacy in the world... yeah it happens for a few lucky individuals but I know many who deserved much better than they ever got... Usually they worked hard and somebody else that already "Had" just got more...
There are advantages to being a "have not" though... and in the end I believe they will become apparent..

I don't know Sam, I believe one must always Work Hard to get along in this world. What is the alternative? Do nothing and wait for someone to give it to you. The world is not fair, but one must do all in their power to try to tip the scales in their favor. I have a nine month old Son and I will teach him to work hard, and try to find something in life that he enjoys...If you love what you do, it's not work! Jeff

Jeff ... exactly ... Doing what one loves, is not hard work ... That's called working smart ... I'm not saying not to put your all into what you do, I'm just saying that just Working Hard doesn't always mean success... you'd have to agree (I think) that if you and some Senators son were up for the same job, that you could work ten times as hard and do ten times the job, but you probably would still not get the job...
... and why I say it's a bit of a falacy is that Rich folk use propoganda like "work hard and you'll go far".. to do nothing more than to get the poor man to work hard to fill the rich man's pockets...
The secret is working smart ... not hard.

Loren .. Yes you can !
I am an optomistic person by nature but a little enthusiastic word and idea swapping is a great mind exercise .. :)
I still love this country very much but that does not mean I have to put my head in the sand and not see there are a lot of problems our society shouldn't address...
Just one case in point ... I grew up in a small farming community where I saw many a farmer work hard daily for years and years and I saw many of them have not only their land but their life long work and homes taken from them for not being able to pay their taxes.... So they are now getting around to these massive farm subsidies that are benefitting only the rich corporate farms... Billions of dollars in aide coming from my tax dollars ... all going to Millionaires.. Something is wrong with this picture... and you can say "well this is still the best country in the world" that's just what those millionaires want you to say...
