New song uploaded
Hi everyone,

We have just uploaded a new version of our jazz ballad, 'You Make Me Shine'.
Positive lyrics in the Norah Jones style.
We'd really appreciate any feedback. Good or bad!

Thank you to everyone who has added us to their station and to everyone listening to our music. We really appreciate it.

Hi Big River Bandits,
I"m listening to the new tune. I like it. Slow and lazy, and as you say, in the Norah Jones style. Well played, well produced. If I walked into a lounge and heard you guys doing this, I would definitely take notice.

In terms of branding, you describe yourselves as an "Americana/Country Rock band". This tune is nowhere near that. I have the same problem with my catalogue. I range all over the map, stylistically. One thing I notice from the local acts that I follow is that the ones who go to the next level all have a consistent sound. Their live act, or their albums, are consistent. Personally, I would get bored doing the same 'sound' or worse, the same tunes, night after night.

But I also realize that can be an impediment to success. Audiences, and talent bookers, want to know who you are. And eclectic doesn't cut it.

It's fine, I suppose, if you're mainly a writer trying to get a deal with publishers, who might be looking for a range of songs for a range of performers. Or if you're pushing a particular song for a tv/film licensing deal. But for a performing act, it can really be a detriment.

John

Hi Guys

WELL DONE

I'll be taking this for a station maybe Indie Spirit which is a new one shooting up the station charts

John ---yes 100% right and it's up to us to change that stereotype ----
(one mind at a time)

Hi John,
Thank you for your comments, and yes you're absolutely right.

We hoped to do so much more as an Americana band but unfortunately just can't compete with so many great US bands! Also not as popular in The UK.

We started playing and writing jazz among a few other genres and have found that we have been much more successful.

I guess we're going for the publishing now with such a diverse catalogue, but as a performer I'd still like to 'make it'!

Thank you.

.......nice jazzy song..... I like the way various instruments come in as the song progresses.....it has a lovely flow. I wouldn't change a thing but if you chose to produce it differently it could become a much more commercial song. That's an artistic choice only you can make. Some songs are just so good that they would sound great with almost any production. This is one of them. Sometimes it's the production that actually sells the song, but as I said, it's great as is and you should do what makes you happy.
