FMM interview with VELULA (Where are they from, how they started, what are they doing now and many more things! )
1.Who are Velula ?
Nationality Band members names, guitarist drummer singer etc. Do you
have a band leader.
Velula composes music, colors and
poetry. Velula is a musical experiment that pretends to explore music
in a different way. Velula has no nationality; we believe that our
world should not be divided by countries. We're against borders =). But
the band was conceived in Amancayas (guess where is this) by
Vladimir Alba Ortuno ( VLAD ). He is the main composer, singer and head of the
project.
2. How were you originally formed and what are your goals as a band ?
We were originally formed as a death
rock noise project, with two members. We used a drum set, two mics, an
electric guitar with pedal effects, and two very old Yamaha and Vintage
amplifiers. The musical evolution started there. We started to work
with the new songs while Ordalia (our previous band) was still going
on. But Velula is a more serious and important project for me (Vlad).
It's not just a hobby, is my life. Every day is a goal. Every minute is
important. Is the last one and is the first one. As a band Velula is
not static. It's an animal and it's alive. I enjoy transforming my
brains and soul into colors and chords. And I enjoy even more when I
touch people with these sounds.
3. How would you describe the type of music you play and what are your influences ?
Velula's music has a metal base that deeply integrates gothic, black, punk and rock, creating a progressive atmosphere. About the lyrics I can say they are psychedelic theatrical stories.
4. What emotions you want to express with your music and lyrics and how do you connect your selves with your audience ?
Emotions and feelings. Throughout the
songs there might be many changes. As a human being, we may show anger,
happiness, cruelty, desire, love, nervousness, joy or madness.
Hyperactive or peaceful moments. I like when the audience just stops
thinking about the outside world and flows with the music. Then and
only then they may have a Velula experience ;)
5. Do you have any plans for live gigs and upcoming concerts ?
Sure!!!. Actually we have a live gig
every time we rehearse …hahahha. We just finished recording the first
album. But we have more songs for the second and third part. So we're
focused on composition now.

6. Have you ever visited Greece? Would you consider performing live in Greece?
I've been in Greece
once, traveling around and writing some stuff. It was the first
place where our demo started to be distributed, in 2005. There I met
Vassilis Yatsis and that's how a piece of our song became part of his
short film "Final Nite". And of course we'd be glad to go back and play in Greece.
7. The Future of music will
be the Free Music concept. FMM will choose the top 10 new coming
artists songs for its next free press edition. Do you think that the
new artists by offering their music for free to the audience will make
a step ahead in order to promote their act and obtain publicity?
I think this is something going on with
our band and many others. We have our songs for free in our website.
People can listen and see what we do before actually buying our music,
videos, stuff or going to a concert.
8. So...are you the future??
We are the future. mmm or maybe just some kind of outer space melody ;)
