OK, I'm new around here, so this Blog entry is away to introduce myself, and my music.

I thought I'd bring up the subject of song inspiration, where do you get it from? Well anywhere, everywhere, but sometimes I use a little personal technique to get me started. I focus on a moment in time, usually in my formative years, and I try to evoke something about that moment. It might be personal circumstance, location, a feekling, even the weather. It's usually only a starting point, and I usually go off-track, following my instincts.

I posted a song today called The Rendezvous Cafe. This is a real place (there is a photo of it on the track). where I grew up - my parents still live there. I met my first girlfriend on the roof of the Rendezvous Cafe (it has a flat roof). This song is very loosely based on my recollection of this. At least it was my starting point.

Her name was Sally (that's not in the song) we only wnet out for a few weeks, but she was my first girlfriend, so she left an impression.

That's it. Listen to the track, what do you think?

Jim
