Don't read this story unless you consider yourself to be open minded.
I don't really believe in ghosts. but I have several ghost stories. The one I'm going to tell you some will surely ridicule. but why be shy about it if you're sure.
Anyway this takes place awhile back. I'm not good with dates.
I did a lot of recording with my Tascam 4 channel cassette, as many of us did. I used mine a lot, even got it overhauled once, and it still wore out. So.. I was recording a demo for this song, which is one of those that I've always considered a personal favorite of songs I've written, because it sort of falls under no category I can think of. So the song has more of a folk song structure, the kind that has like 8 lines and there is no chorus or bridge, just that one melodic verse, a repeated anthem, it's a hybrid between a folk song and a 60s pop-rock song. So I'm singing the long verse the second time, I start to sing the 7th line and it's droning a bit. I think to myself, this song's got to change. So I tried out a couple chord combinations and then the sound in my headphones coming out of my Tascam started to get noisy, like some interference came in thru the electrical waves or something. Anyway it was mechanical feedback and I ripped off my headphones, then turned the thing off.
ok, 5 minutes later, I go back to the song, which is still in my head. I turn the portastudio back on, and go listen to the second verse to contemplate what kind of change I'm going to try to come up with. and ..
it comes to the 8th line, and in my left earpiece, I hear this voice, singing this strange variation on the melody that I never would've thought of, it was so .. different, yet powerful. and interesting lyrics too, like I had some great collaborator.
and suddenly I realize all at once, it was Lennon.
Anyway I never released the song but I have a really nice though poorly-produced demo. :) I've also sung it several times live and it seemed to get a good reaction.
Anyway so Lennon helped me with a song. Next week I'll tell you about my lucid dream about getting taken back by aliens to see Hendrix, or the one where I got to witness JFK's assassination, standing at Dealey Plaza.

I can't say I could ever identify who's voices, they are, but I get tunes all the time. I feel like all I have to do is listen carefully and be good enough to match what I've heard. I never had a Tascam, so I think they can find you no matter what the equipment haha.
