I didn't watch the Grammys.
and I'm glad I didn't. If I did I might have nightmares of Taylor Swift chasing me around trying to put lipstick on me. I doubt I'd have been too thrilled either about the Eagles tribute. Here's a band that sold 32 trillion more records than they had any right to, and of course they do a tribute song for a guy that was written by somebody not even a member of the band?
I also heard that Lady GaGa got a tattoo of Bowie on her for the event. Sorry if this offends but I find tattoos and piercings are most important to those who are shallow and are trying to come off as complex. I especially love these women who pierce their tongues or mouth and then they can't talk right.
You know what the problem is with popular music these days? There's too much bullshit involved. Bring back the time when it used to be about songs.

I like Taylor Swift. She is all class. And she is a real music fan, too. Whenever the camera cuts to her at any awards show she is singing along with every song. And she doesn't cry when she loses. She is the first to jump up and applaud the winner in her category. All class.

Replying to Laree's comment, I agree, and if you notice,
most pop and rock artists Not in the R&B or Hiphop scene,
are gracious winners. And gracious non-winners.

Wow, I can't believe how crazy this place is. So, now all of the Hip-Hop and R&B artists are not gracious winners or losers. What's wrong? The Black people don't grin and say thank ya massa enough for you? Most R&B/Hip-Hop artists thank God first and then the rest of their so called crew. When they lose they do exactly what the White losers do. Smile and act like it doesn't hurt to lose. In regards to Taylor, I think she is a wonderful artist and a great person. She already has 12 Grammy's so of course losing a few does not bother her. If she had never won one, I suspect (though I could be wrong) that her reaction would be different. Everybody handles success and failure in their own individual way. To imply that all the White people (Pop & Rock) are more gracious than the Black people (Hip-Hop & R&B) is just plain silly.

I think there is a great deal of mutual admiration and respect between musical artists of all genres.

Yeah Kanye is without a doubt one of the most despicable, egotistical assholes in the industry. But it has nothing to do with his genre or his race. It is all about his stupid belief that he is a god. Personally, I think he is way overrated as a rapper and the one CD I bought of his was hardly even listenable. F##k Kanye (and not in a good way). Stoneman, I did not say that. I said most non-hiphop and or R&B winners publicly don't show their frustration when they don't win. While some Hiphop/R&B do show they are gracious non-winners, there had been several shows where some show and voice out their displeasure. While Kanye is probably the most recognized example of that, there were some before him.
In all the years I've watched the Grammys, I've never once saw a rock or pop band/artist throw a tantrum for not winning.

Also, I never view it Winners and Losers.
To me it is Winners and non-winners.
In my opinion, there are no losers. Being nominated is a winning achievement in itself, and winning the actual award is also a winning achievement.
There are no Losers. That's such a negative term.

That is what you implied when you wrote: "and if you notice,
most pop and rock artists Not in the R&B or Hiphop scene,
are gracious winners. And gracious non-winners." The implication there is that R&B and Hip-Hop artists are not gracious winners and non-winners and that is simply not true. Maybe that is not what you meant to imply but it is how it read. Kanye is not the representative of Rap or Hip-Hop. He represents himself. It is true that just being nominated is a great thing. But looping the actions of a few individuals to two entire genres is unfair. You didn't say Black or White. But everyone knows that most Pop/Rock artists are White and most R&B/Hip-Hop artists are Black. So, who have you seen throw tantrums and out of all of the Hip-Hop/R&B artists nominated for stuff through out the years that you have been so diligently watching, what is the percentage of them that throw tantrums? My problem with you is your insistence on using generalizations to paint an entire people as being ungrateful and ungracious human beings. Nothing could be farther from the truth as winning a Grammy or even being nominated is a great thrill for all artists regardless to their genre. Just because you didn't see any White people throw tantrums doesn't mean it ain't happening. They just avoid the cameras when they do it. But, to be fair, I googled "Grammy Tantrums" so I could see all these Hip-Hop/R&B artists who have done this. Out of 16 pages on the search, the only name that came up was Kanye West.

I understand. Yes, there were others, such as Faith Hill and Trent Reznor who either shown or voiced displeasure of not winning, there were more Hiphop/R&B artists other than Kanye to display that as well, most notably Chris Brown, Rhianna, ODB of Wu-Tan Klan amongst others. Maybe they stand out more because of their choices of words and braggadocio way of considering themselves the best of all. And there were many who dissed the Grammy's board for not even being nominated.
It's not a case of black and white but rather Individualism, as many in the hiphop community believe they are the best. There can only be One best winning the award.

Such is true but even the Grammy's are all about opinions and we know that everybody has one of those. I was just concerned with the generalization of your post. But I can relate to you possibly not meaning it that way. Thanks for the clarification.
Respect,
