the concerts on the roof
So I was born in farm country, small town, all of that. Went to college at a state school which was also in the country. When I graduated my best friend and I decided we wanted to move to the big city, and we did, we moved to LA. Ended up in a high rise building downtown where I got a job as a security guard. There were some thrills about living in the city that I had never experienced. The Sunset Strip was an exciting place. Also Westwood was a crazy college town that I really loved when we visited there. but the biggest thing was just experiencing the city. I had keys to get up on the roof of our building and it was really a close up view of the LA skyline, the biggest buildings were just across a bridge that I could walk on just outside our building. It was electric, that view. Anyway I had just gotten my first nice acoustic guitar and really enjoyed going up on that roof and playing. I did it by myself a number of times, and eventually we started to make some friends, we invited them on the roof and I would play these little shows, the air was crisp and I was young and the world was looking up at that time. I really loved doing those shows on the roof.
