The Apathy of Doris Day
If everybody said Whatever will be, will be, this society would be even worse than it is now. Personally if I could I would rip her star off the Hollywood Walk of Fame, her weak-mindedness is not appreciated. Why she's gotten a free ride on this for all these years is what I'd like to know. :~D
Or is it her mama who should be the recipient of my wrath?

...now there you go again Fly....landing on another spot where you shouldn't be!...
and on a deceased, iconic Cinema Lady at that! The world was more care-free
in spirit back then...have you already forgotten the golden tales your Grandparents
told you of yesterday?...and even as soiled and sullied as a Fly-tale may be, I'm
sure that they may have even had the same care-free spirit as golden Doris did,
back in the day, eh? Now where are your ethics Fly? have you lost them like all
the rest of us....i mean...all the rest of them?... he he he

How dare you, Larry Johnson. Doris Day is alive.
the proof
What's truly scary is that I came up with this topic out of the blue, then I find out this is her birthday. Syncronicity. Either that or I am superfly.

It's all very well picking on Doris fly,but what about The Eagles ?
Urging people to 'take it easy' is subversive in the extreme-and a complete insult to the average, good honest hard working american..
Even as a Brit it makes my blood boil..

"WHATEVER WILl BE, WILL BE"
Whats wrong with that? you are assuming it means nothing will be done if you have control over change and an outcome.
I have posted the serenity prayer once before, it is applicable. Many people worry to death about things that are completely out of their control.
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
accept the things you cannot change, que sara..whatever will be will be....
Doris is still alive, perhaps she has controlled her blood pressure by not getting stressed over everything...just a thought :)

She sang that many years ago so your logic doesn't follow. :~D
Regarding the Beatles and Let It Be, I think that's quite a different message from Whatever will be, will be. Depends on your interpretation.
Shine until tomorrow.

I think Doris Day got it right and The Kinks did too. They sang about lazing on a sunday afternoon.I'd be quite happy to laze around on weekdays too especially if the sun is shining.

Thats not my favourite Doris Day song. That's perhaps perhaps perhaps.Doris was pretty but not as pretty as Marilyn Monroe.Marilyn sung to the president but still couldn't sing like Doris so i guess these things even up.
Liza Minelli was a good singer in cabaret.Thats not a role that would've suited Doris.

But Doris Day would've made a better mother.Remembering the other thread, imagine if she was your mum?You couldn't possibly end up unsavoury or be anything less than wholesome. You'd be overflowing with ethics.

Gaslight that was almost as bad as Liza's mom. Coincidentally, I slept with Liza once. I wish I could tell you more about it but I don't remember anything past when she hit me over the head with an ashtray.
Perusing this thread, I'm starting to think Doris Day has something to do with what's wrong with you people.

Why was she smoking in bed? Or was it you? Maybe that's why she hit you.Smoking in bed's really dangerous. Its much more dangerous than smoking normally which is dangerous enough as it is

I happen to know that this song was written especially for Doris to sing after the revelation of a tryst between her and Fly. He only had a small part but she was never the same again after Move over Darling. Fly managed to win the award for 'Best supporting insect'
Once I had a secret love
That lived within the heart of me
All too soon my secret love
Became impatient to be free
So I told a friendly star
the way that dreamers often do
Just how wonderful you are
And why I'm so in love with you
Chorus
Now I shout it from the highest hills
Even told the golden daffodils
At last my heart's an open door
And my secret love is no secret anymore.

...yeah Fly.....she may even be responsible for the 'hippie movement'.......
...from 'Que Sera, Sera' to 'Feelin Groovy' type of 60's songs....
due to the over-saturation of phony morality 'oozing' from the silver-screen in
everything she did and altho she defiled the American western in 'Calamity Jane'....
probably cause Marilyn Monroe wouldn't stoop so low....alas, even as a little
kiddie.....she gave me a little woodie....he he he.....poor Doris, the target of every
bloke gone astray....HAPPY B'DAY DORIS BABY!!!!.......hey Fly......can i get
that phone number from ya?.................he he he he

Hello Fly on the wall
"The Apathy of Doris Day" sounds strangely similar to "The Portrait of Dorian Gray"... I think both are dangerous for our world's future:
apathy* (in the sense of passivity/inactivity and naivity) and arrogance/selfishness/cruelty - a dangerous combination indeed.
But luckily for us all not a winning one 8-)
rock'n roll everybody!
*not being zen and accepting things we cannont change (while changing what we can)

Another oldie but goodie. I understand Doris Day loved her pets. Most of the best individuals out there have pets as a major element in their life. I have a kitty myself, and have been accused of impersonating a rabbit.
