Penmanship, a lost art on the internet.
I write such crisp flowing letters but this deck is stacked against me.

....I think that penmanship (if you mean the art of writing) has blossomed due to the internet - We write more often.
Your penmanship is always articulate and fascinating but would others be reading it without the internet? [Perhaps I should have written "usually" instead of "always" :-)]

I would say yes, unfortunately; there is something about the hand written word that is irreplaceable and the smell of ink and paper. It's the smell of things that cannot be replaced by technology...and the energy of such objects. Perhaps we are developing in ways beyond the need for such things... I hope not, I love hand written letters but must admit I find myself succumbing to email more oft than not because I too have become accustomed to speed. There is a thoughtfulness that fades away with penmanship, and a fingerprint of words.

A well crafted letter is something really special. The internet, email etc can never compete with the power of the handwritten message!

Well written, Sam. I'm afraid I HAVE to agree (I write well enough to be a doctor- if only I had gone to medical school).

....Ah, penmanship as in written by hand. Well, yes, for letters it's far more personal and meaningful especially for a special loved one. However, it's a pain if the handwriting is illegible and it's time consuming to do and often tedious and costly to post. And then it can take ages to arrive as well. But it's still wonderful.
I don't think that the internet is solely responsible for any decline but rather a change in society. The mobile phone's use for texting is far greater competition.
On Father's Day, my daughter created a pdf booklet and put it on my desktop 'puter. Here is one page from it - She had also included lots of photos from many years ago. At other times she has hand-made cards etc for me. Quite frankly, BOTH media touch me equally. I think the message is more important than the media. Handwriting is great and can be very personally significant but in general use it's an old technology for communication.

Yes words are treasures in all forms, written by hand or typed, someone still had to think of what to say and how to say it, the form I haven't really got a handle on is text talk, I mean you almost need a translator for that stuff, gr8 subjek tho' kp up th gd wrk!

I have carpal tunnel in my right hand, so I can barely sign my name with an ink pen anymore. I also admit that even in comparison to other writing endeavors I cheat BIG TIME in writing blogs and emails. I think I try to convey voice fluctuation and mood more in writing blogs.

....I'm now wondering whether some of my posts would be less offensive or more offensive if I handwrote them! LOL
Cue for someone like 'fly' to say that they're offensive whatever medium I use! :-)
