it's a wasteland
Seriously this pipeline used to be full of interesting ideas and banter but now it seems the shameless cheery promoters rule the roost. As my friend Bluto said, it's nauseating.
Are these promoters really about the music and the cause or are they mainly about watching their own stats?
Where are the real people? I'm seeing a lot of acrobatic sandwich placard wearers. Are we supposed bo believe they care if the listeners live or die? The problem with the music business is music business. Occasionally this arena dripped with soulfulness but now it's some kind of Home Shopping Network commercial.
I don't want the fucking fake sapphires and I don't like the botox enebriated bimboes selling them either. I'm not calling in the next 5 minutes for a free bathmat. Fuck you.

So, you are saying Fly, we should have the negative, no supporting artists or IAC banter, calling each other degrading names on here? Give me an example of what type of posts that should be up here please...Aren't we mainly here to show off our talents in music? To have people (the world) listen to our work, to appreciate our work? To support one another's talents. Last I remember, that was the credo of IAC, what made me join. What is so "souless" about being positive and cheery? Honestly, it's better than the shit I have been seeing posted the last week or so. I am as real as it gets homie. If you met me Fly, you would see I AM always positive. That is me in a nutshell and I am sure these same cheerful, fake "souless" people you call here are the same way in real life too that they are here. Sorry, ain't changin'.

Why not post an interesting Idea instead of bitching about the lack of them?
I too get tired of the cheerleading threads, but I understand this is an indie music site and the artists want to be heard. It's the primary reason most of us are here.
I have been posting new songs, and will continue to do so. I will announce new songs on the pipeline, but I won't go on about it. Some of you notice, alot of you don't care...and thats cool. I do not look down on any artist who tries to promote themselves now and again, Sometimes it is needed to be heard. That said, the trumpeting of stats and chart positions does get a bit dry at times, I hate seeing those.
I have posted on a variety of threads over the past few years when the topic moves me. I agree things feel a bit stale, and I feel a bit disconnected from this site. However, that may just be a "Me" problem.
Some feel flaming and sniping creates interest, I think it makes everyone involved look like adolescents.
Regards,
Jeff

That would actually be constructive... who wants that?
The pipeline blows, I'm leaving!

No Slimdog, did you really think that was what I was saying, that I'm asking for purely negativity? Please quote my words that led you to such a ridiculous interpretation. No that's alright, I know you can't.
Are you mainly here to show off your music? Maybe so, but it's just that some of you people act like you're such community supporters yet you don't participate in anything not related to promo. You basically disappeared from here after you won your Golden Kayak and now you're back cause you are pushing something else. Are you a real person or just a product, it's hard to tell.
I don't see some of you promo freaks ever acting like there's anything else in the universe but pushing yourself. It's shallow. I really hope you and others aren't as single minded in real life as you are here, because the people living with you must get sick of your cardboard sales personalities.

True, I was gone for a time after The Golden Kayak. I signed a deal with Cashbox and was preparing music to do shows and because of the failing of us with Cashbox, 2mental had to persue other interests. We had to reinvent ourselves because 2mental was an integral part of Block Scholars. I had a year where 7 people close to me pass away (Uncle, Dad, cousin 3 days after my dad died, Uncle, babysitter murdered and left buied on a hill in C.Springs, neighbor and another cousin the day after Thanksgiving in 2007. Would you disappear for sometime? I even did posts from time to time in others blogs talking about my father. I saw where Larry Magliore had a passing in his family and I believe Jeff had someome ill as well, posted in a discussion about controlling your dreams (Super Puss may remember that one). Lace was going through some issues and I sent well wishes on her post. Just because I don't post doesn't exactly mean I'm not there and my posts not always about my music. Should I go on little winged homie?) You look at my site Fly and see I do nothing short of promoting IAC. Look at my podcast page at www.slimdog.podomatic.com, www.myspace.com and NPR today. I've done a 3 part podcast, one part on WHY people should join IAC (I'll send that to you). I LOVE IAC. I DON'T have to promote IAC, but I DO. Look at my station, "If You're Not The Lead Dog", who's on top right now? Juliette Lewis & The Licks and my station is a Hip Hop/R&B station" beacuse I support the indie movement...I enjoy reading about others sucesses or when someone posts a new song. Sometimes you don't know the whole story Fly. Shallow my ass homie...Fuck you Fly and the horse you rode in on...I want to know WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO PROMOTE IAC?

Considering how the Pipeline has gone downhill, over the last year, maybe it's time to pull the covers on it.
Thanks Bluto, Fly, et al...

That is a bit harsh SRM. The pipeline is a vital area of interaction to this site, if it were not here the site would get sterile real fast.
It is what you make it, disregard the posts that piss you off or bore you. Contribute to those that interest you, create threads that interest you...and by all means if you are an artist/writer/musician go write and record a song.
It's important to note the pipeline is made up of personal/Individual blogs that just happen to show up on the front page in "The Pipeline". This is not a message board....,That fact is often overlooked. Everyone has the right to write whatever the hell they want, even if it bores the hell out of the rest of us. Don't sweat the small shit... The Admins will take care of those subjects that violate the terms of service.
If you don't like it, work to make it better. You cannot control what other people have to say, and you cannot "make them" interesting.
Fly, I find it interesting how you deride people for not being real..... I have no idea who you are, what you're about, or why you are even here. I do think you can be interesting at times when you choose to post. I do not want to get into the whole "ANON" debate......However, you asked."Where are the Real People'??? I can ask you the same question FLY.
There is no doubt I am real, and the same can be said for most of the people that are causing the Pipeline to be "nauseating". We are not responsible for the success or failures of others,we can only hope to improve ourselves.
Regards,
Jeff

I'm not sure what you're pushing for. Seems a couple things, one I can dig, the other I don't really do.
On the one hand you seem to be asking that we somehow lift IAC, like some sort of boosterism? I don't know. I can't really get into that. It's a lot like the promo you don't like. IAC promo on IAC or what? What would it be for?
But talking about my music, that I do. I talk about how it felt to make it or what I'm going through making it or whatever I'm thinking about the creative process...that's what I post...real thoughts on real creativity...I look in there and see what I can see, and maybe others want to ramble on about similar stuff.
But what is really at issue here, I think, is where are all the characters, and my opinion on that is some very colorful ones are banned, and that puts a kink on things. Others are laying low, maybe because some of their favs are currently banned, and also probably because they don't want to repeat themselves, they may need time to lie fallow.

Okay fly, another one of your rousing "wake up and smell the coffee" get real posts.
I've always liked that about your persona. Your good at expressing yourself, humourous rants, poetic diatribes, and trying to arouse some REAL-ness around here.
I think that there's room for BOTH promoting IAC, others and yourself, WHILE keeping it real, as it were. I mean, like ACTUALLY listening to the music you review. Getting to know the artists, as best you can in this artificial forum, etc.
I'm tired after a long days work (and a tough weekend gig), so I'll just leave it to that for now.
Glad to see your still checking on thing here occassionally.

When your living in a post-punk, post-millenium world, and trying to keep pursuing your dreams, in a tough economy.....
Well..... Sometimes encouraging other artists you dig, and wanting to help promote their good stuff too, can come across as ass-kissing....
But, I swear to fuckin' CHRIST, that's NOT the case with some of us here.
Gotta get back to reality this week, with work, gig prep for the weekend, and try and keep a family together.
Sigh. Fuckin' sensitive, wussy-assed artist that I can be, I get overwhelmed sometimes.
Keep the BLOGS as REAL as possible, y'all.
