Gigging with Poetry Life and Times
Despite the fact that I was and am the interviewee in Randall Barfield’s interview, featured in the newly-released issue of Poetry Life and Times , even I was surprised upon reading it to see how much ground we covered.
In geographical terms, the ground covered includes the fact that Georgia native Barfield works these days out of South America, Poetry Life and Times is based in England, and this humble poet/historian/novelist/journalist continues to rock steady for the moment in Savannah.
In terms of subject matter, the interview is an in-depth no-holds-barred one that covers everything from the meaning and origin of the name Aberjhani to this artist’s takes on IAC, heroes of creative expression, poverty, racism, sexuality, the significance of winning literary awards, and the Harlem Renaissance. The last subject makes the interview particularly noteworthy when considering that February in the United States is Black History Month.
