With All due respect.... BP had the responsibility..correct that..."has" the responsibility to guard against environmental catastrophe. This is no time for partisan grandstanding. So what if an official Government "policy" was not in place, , BP still had the responsibility.... A point was made, BP did not install a safe guard just because Big Daddy government told them they did not have to? It's not required regulation? Thats just stupid... Now they will pay billions, perhaps trillions instead of the $500.000 to install the safeguard.
Government does not have all the answers, personal responsibility is needed...whatever happened to that? It's always someone else's fault....thats not what I am teaching my Kid.

Oh, sorry not talking about you being partisan, I am referencing the "Talking Head" in the video. :)
As of today, BP'S stock has lost half of its value.....just becuase they did not follow a "requirement" that was not enforced by our government??. I guess I should get a government manual to show me how to tie my shoes..... :)
Governments are inefficenct...they do not employ the best of the best...they do not have expertise in many fields, including oil exploration, extraction, and disaster recovery. To be fair, it is why I am not blaming Obamas administration for not stopping the leak.....they simply do not have the expertise.
Should there be stronger regulations??? sure, but the lack of them does not diminish the responsibility of BP. It is unacceptable that they did not do all they could do to be proactive in preventing this disaster. If the technology exists, and they bypassed it to save a buck because they were not "required" is criminal in my mind. It's also unacceptable that they do not have an effective plan and contigencies in place to deal with the disaster. They are throwing darts hoping one will stick...pathetic. It's all on BP.....Just as it was all on the banks in the financial crisis.
Regards,
Jeff
