Rugby World Cup Showdown!
Well after reading the Blogs about "the beautiful game"" (MM) and all you other dudes discussing the NFL (Father Time) Paul etc------I will tell a little about Rugby the game for 'real' men, which is taking place right now in France!
The USA, Canada, France, England, Scotland, Italy, are all getting hidings from the 4 southern countries , --New Zealand , Australia, South Africa & Argentina are tipping over all in their paths as they head towards the inevitable conclusion----the Mighty All Blacks will win at a trot!
These guys have heads like concrete (no helmets),shoulders like bulls, legs like tree trunks (full contact), brains like quicksilver (at least one per team, usually the fly half)
The forwards are all over 100kgs minimum , the backs can all sprint 10 second 100 metres, carrying a oval ball under 1 arm, and both teams play for 80 minutes, having to defend and attack with the same guys, unless they are carried unconscious from the paddock!
Rugby is more than a passion in this country--------more like a religion.
And afterwards we all sit around with the other team and have a beer-------perfect!!

I live in a city with split loyalties, the football team is a crowd puller but the Rugby team attracts an additional 'different' set of supporters. It is almost World famous and our Captain Martin Johnson actually lead England to World Cup victory. You're right it must be the bravest ball game around although I really prefer Rugby league to Rugby Union, it's faster and flows better, do you have it over there?
