I just wanted to say, not to disrupt your thread, but If you think that was a brawl, you must be somewhat new to the internet. That was pretty mellow compared to most political discussions out there.

fly and larree,
life is short -----I prefer LIGHT to HEAT in these discussions-------------I didn't see any points that are new or going anywhere---------except maybe from Troy, and one Comment you made Laree------about where America sits at the moment!
I like most of the Artists on both sides of the debate(if you could call it that!)
I agree that these issues are important, but frankly, the quality of argument is basically name calling---------------!?
Just because it is happening ALL over the 'net doesn't make it any more valid ------------I have always stood against the "Lowest common denominator" in music,
TV Reality shows, and heavily spun News! it's just plain lazy thinking-------in my view !
thanks for responding -----I enjoy both your input on here ----now it was also of course, an excuse to pimp my song-----and I bet you haven't listened yet?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Yea? I don't type in forums just to be seen friend...I guess you are far above being enlightened by someone else's opinions... Thanks for the ringing endorsement of the time I took to respond to a thread that was started to get a reaction....and a little participation.
Cheers...

Jeff I respect what you are saying-------and yep I did read what you said, and Sam, and others who I have met here!
I'm not American------and where I come from---------- it is not so common for folks to shout at each other-----it's a cultural difference if you like?
I have been a participant in other threads on other sites-------and it often seems like put downs become "the Norm", that is what I find annoying.
eg. www.worldsentiment.com
I know you have more than done your share of Rational debate, and I applaud you for that and I'm sorry if you took offence!
but (as an aside) we get the worst of your culture on our TV screens, (most programs here are american)-------- and political respect for the 'Land of the Free' is at an all time low here----- and in other countries I have travelled to.
THAT does worry me!

What Larree said! It kills me when people say they hate America or Americans, then turn around and say well actually its Bush and the political wheel that we don't like. I never liked Marcel Marceau but I didn't go around saying things like I don't like the French or I don't like mimes...oh yea I did...I don't like mimes. They're scary.

I see nowhere in Robbie's post where he said he didn't like America ... and his song expresses that he would like to visit the people here..
His statement ...

does say things about us though...
The T.V. here is just pure garbage and I threw my T.V. away almost 10 years ago and I don't own one to this day and I don't plan on buying one either...
He said the political respect for the U.S. is at an all time low out there...
And why shouldn't it be...
We are NOT the world police.... Our leaders have a terrible attitude problem... We present ourselves as saviors of the earth... What a bunch of B.S.....
The World was here along time before the U.S. was..... and I'm sure it would be capable of continuing without us....

The last time I was anywhere near a T.V. was during the fires in So. Cal. .. I happened to catch a segment from FOX news channel .... at least locally here they fucked up that story by saying California didn't want Arizona's help ..
Then when they started talking about Brittany Spears I heade out the door...
If that's the kind of crap you watch .. it's no wonder your head is so F.U.C.K. ed up !

Sam, I didn't say that Silverwood made any sort of dislike reference. Larree mentioned that some people have no respect for the US anymore and I was simply referencing some of the things I've read and heard.
Silverwood is cool and I'm not the kind of person to try to twist things - - it takes too much time and intelligence to do that. And frankly, I have too little of either!
I've a good mime to...never mime. I'm just glad someone agrees with me. Thanks Toby. lol

I woke up this morning and there's a party going down---------I'll duck out and get some drinks and nibbles!
Muriel, --Thanks----You DO know me, I've had a longing to visit the US since I was a small boy---hence dragging out that song!

Sam --you already know how I feel-----!

Jeff-Jeff--You are straight up----and I bet a damn good parent!
In New Zealand we have only 4 million people in a country the size of Japan!
We are basically like a small version of the USA but about 15 years behind.
The TV progs I mentioned were the "Reality Shows" about fat pets, makeovers, and soaps-------------the best are "the Sopranos" "Boston Legal" and "Sponge Bob"
Also --------the USA saved our asses in WW2 when the Japs were ready to take over------we owe you!
I do think that the path the Neo Cons are taking is not in Americas (or the worlds) long term interests------------Russia is Sabre rattling, China is buying up the US economy------While ALL eyes are focussed on the Middle East, these countries are repositioning themselves to take advantage

Along time ago before the Dawn of istory...lived a strange race of people..The Druids.
No one knew who dey were...or..what they were doing, but their legacy remains, hewn in to the living rock of stonenge..
I keep folding it and it keeps, breaking ......It does bother me but I will get over it, I'm a professional...

That's a rationalization. You can't be dissing somebody who believes in peace as a policy. By that standard you could also say we know nothing about what was going on in Vietnam and the whole hippie movement occurred around that.

From Olbermann's show, Nov 1
When he was still secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfeld used to write 20 to 60 brief memos each day his staff. In our third story of the COUNTDOWN these memos were known as snowflakes. This reminder, enough snowflakes and suddenly you‘re buried alive under an avalanche. Like all of Mr. Rumsfeld‘s work at the Pentagon, the memos reflect the prescription for fear, for unnecessary war, for divisiveness and for the arrogant manipulation of the media so near and dear to Rumsfeld‘s heart.
They stress the importance of elevating the threat of playing offense with the media, and one portrayed Muslims as lazy. They‘re not classified, though they were marked for official use only. Many were obtained yesterday by the “Washington Post”. In May 2004, when the situation in Iraq was hitting one of its low points, after the previous month‘s revelations about prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib, Mr. Rumsfeld issued a classic whopper; he wondered if terrorism should be redefined as, quote, a world wide insurgency.
He asked aides, quote, to test what the results could be if the war on terrorism were renamed. Another memo in 2004 used snowflake as pep talk. The challenges there were, quote, not unusual, he wrote. And pessimistic news reports were the result of applying the standards; quote, “our publics risk falling prey to the argument that all is lost.”
It was never about reality, but how to manipulate the press and poison the public, especially when he was cornered. In April 2006, when calls for his resignation became coming from a string of retired generals, Rumsfeld issued this memo, “talk about Somalia, the Philippines, et cetera. Make the American people realize they‘re surrounded in the world by violent extremists.” As for other gems, his staff should go on offense with press, quote, “go out and push people back. The war on terror is not a, quote, terminal event.” Keep elevating the threat. And “link Iraq to Iran.”
and Mr. Rumsfeld even wrote that, quote, “too often Muslims are against physical labor, and an unemployed population is easier to recruit to radicalism.”
So it seems is a population subject to the manipulation of the Donald Rumsfelds of this world.
