how many genres?
-------do you cover on your page----
at a recent count we had 13 ----this is both a pleasure and a pain!
Most punters want to know that the band they are listening to will sound like---Rock---Punk--Country --or whatever--
We play ALL genres depending on what tangent our writers have taken off on----
Is there anyone out there with more than 13-???
---I know there are some very talented, ecclectic musos here!!!!!!!

Why is reggae not a separate genre here? Why is Cuban not a separate genre here?, why is Scots not a separete genre here?
I could go on,............generic complainer heh..........

Thanks D.T
I know what you're saying---we invented a new genre called Kiwi-ana NZ music)but no one "got" it?
Andy---no shame there ---how many Blues derivatives would there be? jazz, soul rock,country-----What i'm trying to say here 'tis that we can't just shuffle things around , rearrange the deck chairs--call ourselve "Indies" and behave as if the punters will lap it up----
The whole face of Rock is gonna change ---innovation and originality will lead the way!
Data thief you are one of those on the cutting edge----

Rob - got an idea for a new genre!
Music!!!
Had this discussion with my son a couple of day's ago, the young 'uns seem to be quite comfortable with the genre listings as an advance way of telling if they will like something or not! Me...i think it is all a bloody distraction!!!
What's your genre??? Music!!! (BISH!)

I agree with you, DT - I've been suggesting that Reggae is included as a genre.
Otherwise I think that stating genres is very useful - I can avoid certain genres I'm not interested in listening to such as Christian.

Hi Robbie...
..."The whole face of Rock is gonna change"...
..."Data thief you are one of those on the cutting edge"...
Ummm, if you're at the cutting edge of a rock face wouldn't you be..."A minor"?

Unless one of those rocks fell on you, then you'd "B Flat"...

Well, if you had really good eyesight and you could "C Sharp", you could avoid the rocks in the first place!

I'm afraid Silverwood probably has the record. I only have songs in eight 'genres'. Personally, I don't like the thought of being pigeon-holed- it sounds pretty painful. I like a variety of musical 'styles' and never want to come off as a 'one note piano'.

I wouldn't want to "B Diminished" in stature either.....
(pigeon hole this comment under "Jazz")

Woh 13 genres is a stack Rob..
I really like the idea of that..
I'm the opposite tho, with a zillion songs all in 1..'Alternative retro and psychedelic'
I guess you can tell i'm not exactly one of those on the 'cutting edge' lol

I don't much like narrowing down my songs to a specific genre.
Normally if asked I'd just say we're a rock band, but when forced to chose a genre for each song from the provided list, our style has been split fom rock, classic rock, folk, acoustic, easy listening etc....
Less genres' I say. Who needs to pidgeon hole anyway?
