That's lousy to see, Rob. My heart goes out to you and the family. As long as you guys are well, all will be right again. You're in our thoughts.
As for your question- you do what you can.

That's the best look we've had of your place so far. Too bad it's due to such unfortunate circumstances. I notice some things that are exactly the same as mine (the green lawns chairs for instance) while other things seem quite exotic (that toilet tank hanging on the wall).
Looks like you managed to keep your equipment safe. But the clean-up might be a handful. So sorry Rob.
My daughter just missed a similar disaster in July -- the yard was full of water but didn't make it into the house.
Looks like you have a nice large jam space. Such a beautiful place where you live, too. I'd love to visit.
Best wishes lad.

Oh my gosh Rob, what a way to come back and find you. You must be exhausted. Is this normal weather for New Zealand? Crazy amounts of rain? So sorry about the condition of your home.
Thank goodness you are all ok. Keep us posted. Love, deb

I don't know what I'd do in that situation... I don't believe anyone really does unless actually faced with it, so I don't know what you should do either, but one thing I do know is that you and your family seem to have strength in your togetherness and the ability to whether any storm. And, you will of come out even more creative and stronger than ever with super, squeeky clean feet from the looks of things !
I feel for you and your family but believe in you Silver of the Wood because you and your family seem to have a gumption and resilience that will always come out on top regardless of the obstacles and I respect you all for it. Hope you've been able to score some warm dry socks and perhaps rubber shoes to get around for awhile ... sending love to you guys, anjuli

My Dear friends Robbie and family ... Some tough luck mates and hard to watch ... My thoughts are with you ... Life can kick us straight in the teeth at times and it seems some get more than their share of abuse ... but in the end, those are the strong ones, and I know you and yours are going to emerge from the storm even stronger ...
It's hard to fathom now, but I'm sure there is more than a beautiful album of song coming forth from this ... after the tide recedes ... and some of that album of heart just may wind up getting recorded ... but what doesn't, will still flow through you, and help make you who you are ...
Much Peace my friends
Sam

These extremes of weather seem to be happening more and more. You probably saw the floods in the midlands in the uk last year where there were many houses in a similar situation to yours. We always tend to take our home for granted forgetting how easily it can be taken away. I hope you were well insured and there hasn't been too much damage to your equipment.
Some of the uk families hired caravans and put them in their front gardens. A lot of families are still living in their caravans more than one year on as it has taken so long to get all the damage repaired and a lot of people have had problems in being able to get good builders who do the job properly when there was so many people needing repairs done. I think you are going to need a lot of patience and do not expect to get things sorted out in a hurry and try and keep cool as many families have got stressed out having to live on top of each other in a confined space.
Thinking of you, you're music will help to keep you sane.

Ive lived through quite a bit in my life Rob on all accounts. I really empathize with your situation and family. You will get through it, and it will make you stronger. I know people that have lived through flood damage, earthquakes and fires destroying their homes given time come through it with the opportunity for growth.. just as the seasons change. My thoughts are with you and I wish my best.

That's a beautiful studio you have there. Sounds like you managed to save quite a bit. You'll come back stronger than ever. Like the phoenix. Sending my best wishes to you and yours.
The weather's volatile here in california, 100 degrees today, yikes. Also, there's hurricane Gustav threatening New Orleans, 3 years after the last one.

There is nothing that can stop the brilliant organic sounds and emotions that come from inside that we have all had the priviledge to hear. You should start a fund for the replacement of your equipment in the name of your artistic future. I will forward all the information to my email list and would put in myself based on what you have already put out. I believe many will step up. Sometimes caging the lion produces brilliant results.

Maybe the pictures could have these tags
There are moments In a lifetime
That certain truths are revealed
Today the universe revealed to me
I will get new studio equipment soon
Because nothing material is forever
Most importantly I know for certain
The music coming from a soul will always be free

Be careful with those electrics Rob, they could be dangerous having been in water.
They are being evacuated in New Orleans - could be worse.

Actually DK,s mum has a really good point about the electrics, not just from a safety point of view but also from the fact that recording equipment is really sensitive to ground loops(hum). I would say there would have to be significant degrading of the wiring insulation from the mains and elsewhwere.
Might be worth considering a independent from the mains power supply for the recording equipment.
