LYRICAL CONTENT?
IMO
Sometimes lyrics are like a framework for the tune , the arrangement, and the vocal style>
---in these cases it doesn't matter if each word is clearly heard, as the impact of the song is the overall mix of ALL the components!
Sometimes the Lyrics are ALL that matter ---the writer has an idea he wishes to convey
and if words are misconstrued ----the meaning is less clear
We have here a new tune which is one where the message IS the song!
HOUSE OF THE LORD
I met a man in a cafe
In his fifties with a hat and a beard
He beckoned me to his table
And the following words he said
I am a steady working man
Three nights past I had a dream
Figures on a golden stairway
I'm wondering what it means
CHORUS
He you you make your enemy
On him you must depend
If you ever
cross the threshold
To the house of the Lord
There were soldiers from Israel
Them boys from Palestine
They were helping each other
Climbing to the halls of the King
Childless mothers from Sudan
Bankers from NYC
They were climbing together
Moving in company
CHORUS
Time is coming
For the lion to lay down with the lamb
Break bread together
To do each other no harm
But what use is a vision
Living in this climate of fear
Will there be a heaven
If we can not build it here?
CHORUS

A storytellin' song with values lol...in tradition pete seeger, peter paul and mary might have covered this 50 years ago. well, "puff the magic dragon" might have done better on the charts, but "house of the lord" would merit their interpretation.
relaxed banjo, back of the porch feel, with an eerie guitar highlighting parts of the story, very cool lyrics, tasteful harrmonies . kudos, enjoy listening...

Angel
You’re my Angel
Angel in my mind
your everything I think of all the time
and when I work your always on my mind
you’re my Angel
Your fair brown skin
and snow white wings
your halo shines in my mind
your good to me
you make me sing
you make me smile all the time
You’re my Angel
Angel in my mind
your everything I think of all the time
and when I work your always on my mind
you’re my Angel
we’ll fly by trees
in the Ocean breeze
and sing a song for the stars
and fall inside each others eyes
and fly around the Islands and the bay
You’re my Angel
Angel in my mind
your everything I think of all the time
and when I work your always on my mind
you’re my Angel
you’re my Angel
you’re my Angel
you’re my angel

EASY STREET
I wander, I worry and I wonder
I feel like a total nervous wreck
Never let them catch you with your hand inside the cookie jar
Never let them bite you on the neck
I hope and I mope and I whittle soap
I wish I had what everybody wants
That's a little understanding, some quiet contemplation,
A holy man to exercise my thoughts
I prodded and I poked and I prayed
Yeah and I smoked and drank and try to coax it out
And I wake up every morning and I feel consequential
But still I can't explain what it’s about
You catch the blues gets you hopping kind of hard on your feet
Oh, I tell you what, you walk a mile, rest your smile here on easy street
It’s good to see you again
Where’ve you been?
I look, I learn, I listen
I try to keep my finger on the beat
And I’ve walked around, up and down every broken sidewalk
Looking for another easy street

Good Stuff ...
So ... you called me out huh Rob ? ... hee hee ... I'll give ya somethin' dark and deep today ... (never been posted before)
Another Wasted Breath
Another wasted breath ...
Designed to wake me up
But I'm just to stubborn and stupid ...
To know when enough is enough
Love letters written ...
Discarded in the wind
What makes me believe, am I that naive ...
To think she'll be mine in the end
Scorned is the heart of a lover
When he has so much to give
Forlorned forever in limbo
Each time he tries to move on
Another slap across my face ...
But I don't feel a thing
She's done this before and I come back for more ...
I just don't know how to quit
Love songs in the distance ...
Fading into the night
But I keep on playing, even though they are saying ...
The chords will never be right
Scorned is the heart of a lover
When he has so much to give
Forlorned forever in limbo
Each time he tries to move on
Pain rips through my body ...
Numbness covers my soul
Why can't my blood, divert this damn flood ...
And force me up outta this hole
Just Another wasted breath ...
My future is lost in the past
I just can't conceive, that I'll ever leave ...
Until I have tasted my last
Scorned is the heart of a lover
When he has so much to give
Forlorned forever in limbo
Each time he tries to move on

here is turtle---
I?ve never needed anybody
To make my live complete
I always have survived
I?m a student of the street
I?ve handled life?s complexities
I?ve never been a fool
Living life has been my teacher
My experience has been my school
Chorus
(BUT) I don?t want to walk the world alone
I don?t want to be my only memory
Into my futures night
No day is ever promised
You can plan but you cannot see
I need someone to walk the world
Hand and hand with me
In this life of ciaos
We learn to adapt
I?m guided by my instinct
We all have some of that
But I don?t want to keep leaving
A trail of lonely nights
My heart has to believe tomorrow
That love is still insight
Chorus
I don?t want to walk the world alone
I don?t want to be my only memory
Into my futures night
No day is ever promised
You can plan but you cannot see
I need someone to walk the world
Hand and hand with me
I don?t want to walk the world alone
And be my only memory
I want someone to walk the world with me

American Dreamer
johnny's got a heavy job workin' in a grocery,
lifts 50 lb. boxes to the top row,
george's workin' sponges at a carwash,
hops hot cars down in soho.
if you wanna call this a comin' of age song
it's alright, alright, alright
danny boy says 'i'm an american dreamer,
give em the day, take back the night...'
loretta works for a florist,
sends bouquets to her friend half price,
joni's an airline stewardess
serves the n.y. to paris-hong kong flight.
if you wanna call this a coming of age song
it's alright, alright, alright,
joni says 'i'm an american consumer,
give em the day, take back the night...
