Time for a change...
Well... At this point, my ears are about to start bleeding from the lack of creativity in the hip-hop/rap genre...
I've done my own music for quite some time, just to make something I could enjoy. That's a sad reason to get into music, to a degree, but when I look at it from another angle, I've been able to push myself creatively to an area, I wouldn't have imagined.
The music game has been pretty tame latley, showing alot of established acts following up with new releases, showcasing much of the samematerial we've already heard from them. Sometimes I wonder if people are afraid to 'grow' as an artist. I can only shake my head when I see guys I used to admire, like Ice Cube for example, release new material, just to see them still promoting somthing that they have obviously grown out of, such as the gangsta persona.
Alot of artist do the samething, and I guess it's more of a saftey net, for their carreers. Go with what sells. I can't hate that, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it either...
My new objective here is to try and breath in a breath of fresh air into the genre, and do what everyone else is attempting to avoid... A classic CD, with great production/lyrics/content & stories, without the parental advisory sticker.
I just put up my new track, 'The vision' as a taste of things to come from my upcoming CD, "Judges"
The game CAN be changed, we just have to eject what's already playing & build up the courage to put in somthing new.
Peace!
