I see some peeps on the NowPlaying trying to game the system :)
Little do they know.

yes we have a few of them. which is why it brings me some measure of glee when I run the parser that separates the unique plays from the masturbatory ones. I think I'll go run it again now just for the thrill.
You'd be surprised if I told you who some of them are. There's a general lack of shame no doubt.

"they got the stuff
The artists on this station blow away the new releases bin at any of your corporate record stores. This is where the goddamned new music is. rock, pop, and soul"
Better get the stations off the front page! These guys say "goddamned" in their fucking description! Time to bury those station descriptions on the back page along with the pipeline! :D

Touche! haha
I'm glad the pipeline is off the front page so they don't read you pointing that out, they may not notice. :D

@Lyin Dan and Scott ~ Thank you for bringing up the subject of gaming the stats. I was struggling as to whether I would say something publicly or privately about evidence (albeit circumstantial) that I have of gaming but I didn't want to seem like I had a case of sour grapes. Personally, it's not the end of the world and the stats are still a great feature of the site. It just saddens me that there are some people who are so pathetic and insecure that they have to ruin a really fun competition by cheating.
Scott and friends have created a fantastic stat system that is far more accurate and informative than the last system and this is the thanks they get. It's obvious that a tremendous amount of time, energy and money went into the creation of the new system. I hope that Scott will notify gamers that they should cut it out and start earning their points honestly like the rest of us.
Actually I think there are just a few bad apples and the vast majority of artists here are honest. It's very sad that a small number of gamers have attempted to disrupt the natural order of things. They should put their energies into getting better stats by writing better songs and not by playing the game on steroids. A level playing field is the best kind and the most fair. Perhaps the fear of being "outed" by Scott on the Pipeline will get them to change their evil ways.

Unless something quit working, gamer attempts to rig the stats should be filtered out within a day or so.
I know dupe plays from the same IP got removed when I experimented.
Yeah, there is a way. But it's pretty damn tedious and you'd have to be an ijut to do it here. Not that there aren't any. And there's a way to put that to rest, too, should it become a problem. Also, this kinda thing will always show up on human investigation. It's pretty obvious.

Just out the gamers. If people see that you will do that perhaps it will deter them from trying to game the system themselves.

I just checked out the 'now playing' page. Someone only listened to 70% of my song. They missed the huge ending with the kickass modulation.
continuing...
Okay, I have been watching that page for a little while now.

I watch that page quite a lot, even when I'm not listening to songs. It's pretty interesting. I also play songs from it when I'm on a listening binge. Just to see what people are listening to, a lot of good stuff appears there.

Richard, no worries, the duplicate plays get yanked out, they're wasting their time. If they want to play their songs 10 times in a row they can, but only the first one will count for points.

Thanks, Scott. I've already seen come corrections taking place. You da man! That really inspires confidence. If you can straighten out that mess, there's nothing you can't achieve here. Not long ago, fixing the stats seemed like an insurmountable obstacle, Kudos to you and your team. I look forward to other dragons being vanquished.
