Oh Gawd!...How Embarrassing!!
AUSSIE INTO TO LAST 11 of AMERICAN IDOL
Perth-born singer Michael Johns has made it through to the next round of the reality show, American Idol.
David Hernandez, a 24-year-old ex-stripper from Glendale, Arizona, was voted out, leaving 11 aspiring singers to vie for the Idol title and a record contract.
"Honestly, things happen for a reason," Hernandez said before leaving the stage.
"I think we all have a plan. ... This isn't it for me."
Hernandez, who sang the Beatles' I Saw Her Standing There, made headlines last week after it was revealed to The Associated Press that he worked as a stripper at a Phoenix club with a "mostly male" clientele.
Finalists had the opportunity to perform classics from the John Lennon-Paul McCartney songbook this week.
Johns sang Across The Universe.Born and raised in Perth, the 29-year-old singer moved to the United States in 1998 to attend college and is married to a Texan woman.
American Idol is among the most watched TV programs in the US and has launched the international chart-topping careers of Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Chris Daughtry.
The show, now in its seventh series, is being aired on pay TV channel Fox8 in Australia.
Sorry folks! What can I say!

I'm with you on that. Music is not a Sport. In Sports, Athletes compete, in the Arts, Artists, create. Nothing is ever created by competition, except, envy, anguish, jealousy, aggravation, despair, and sadness, on the part of the so called loser, and a fleeting moment of triumph for the winner (until his next loss). I really wish that people would stop making Music, especially Song writing, a contest, and just leave it where it's always been, a creative Art.
Love and infinite Peace,
