@ Mike Lance "The Passerby"
Hi Mike,
I saw you commenting on a few posts so I stopped by your page. I found your song "The passerby" to be interesting. The guitar strumming pattern takes me back to a simpler time. The way the vocal lines drop in with the guitar leads the listener down a long winding road.
I'd like to do a slightly different version of it. All the rights to the "cover" of your song would remain yours since you wrote it and you would get all the credit for the original content.
I found it to be intriguing and if you would allow it I'd like to give it the TSC spin.
Let me know how you feel about it as it would be slightly different and its your song.

Hi TSC. I would love to hear your take on my song! Of all the feedback I've ever received on music I've made, this is by far the most encouraging. Naturally, I checked out your page and am even more intrigued having heard your version of Sound of Silence.
Thank you for your inquiry, and I look forward to hearing your interpretation!

Thank you for stopping by my page. Glad you like my dark and dreary version of "sound of silence" Its different. Some say its a bit slow but that was intended.
The song "Easy come Hard to Go" that one is a bit special to me so its good to hear that someone else enjoyed it.
Sometimes things I try don't work out but I will give your song a try and if I come up with a version that is suitable for public ears I'll post it here.
I thought your song the passerby had some interesting qualities that I'd like to explore.
Thanks for letting me play with your creation.

Hey Mike,
I've got an arrangement now for the TSC version of the passerby I'm working on the recording process. Its coming along. My process is not exacly the fastest but I hope you will enjoy it when its ready to be heard.
Thanks again for letting me play with your song. The laid back folk feel is something I have not done in some time its been fun to experiment with your song.

It is I who would like to thank you. It's a true honour to know that someone is spending time with a song I wrote in such a way. I look forward to hearing your version!

When I do covers which is not too often I tend to slow them down. Its slow and lazy taking its time to wander the lonely barrens of the dessert where the passerby roams the long winding road. I gave your song the studio treatment instead of a live feel presentation.
Thank you for your song and allowing me to give the the TSC spin.

I've given this a few listens and I like it a lot. A very different take for sure, but that's what I like about it... My version is lighter and sounds like an emotional appeal to one of the characters, whereas this version pulls you into the darkness and lets you inhabit the scene from the opposite side. I like how it takes it's time. It's very atmospheric and reminds me of 90s slowcore bands like Red House Painters oh whom I am a fan.
Thank you for spending the time with my song. I'll be listening to it many times. The experience has introduced me to your original work which I am still exploring. "Never Let you Go" in particular has been getting repeat plays on my phone and in my head over the past few days.

Well if you haven't noticed that is what TSC does. Pulls you into the darkness and lets it slowly overwhelm you. As you saw with my cover of Sound of silence which was slow tempo with the storm raging in the background.
Alpha Omega is my project for the other side where the quick hitting radio friendly songs dazzle your eyes with light (sort of its as light as I get).
"Never let you go" was a quick demo the recording was not very good quality but the song has good bones maybe I'll do it better someday.
If you want the Passerby MP3 send me your email and I'll send it your way.
I really enjoyed working with your song and bringing the TSC spin to your tale. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I only saw one song on your page. I'd be interested to hear some of your other work. Where might that be?

Forgot to mention all my recordings are "home based recordings with absolutely no professional equipment whatsoever.
The most expensive thing I own is my multi track which was a few hundred bucks.
Most of my stuff is pawn shop finds or second hand used equipment.
I'm living proof that you don't need a big money investment just careful selection.

I thought "Never Let You Go" sounded perfect. It's lo-fi pop, and I am a fan of Guided by Voices. It's true, one doesn't need expensive equipment to make compelling music.
For my other music, the big one is The Sky Hits the Ground, which is a collaboration with Shane Willard (who occasionally posts in these parts as TheMightyJerkules.) We have our full lengths self titled album in its entirety posted as well as our most recent number "Timebomb Syndrome". Shane's the primary songwriter, but I contributed three of the songs.
(On a sidenote Shane's solo material is pretty damn good too. I'd recommend giving his "Butterfly Typhoon" a listen. Beautiful, heartfelt, and lo-fi in the best way.
I have a couple older songs still online from a previous pseudonym. One's an instrumental. I've abandoned the old name and am starting fresh after a 6 year hiatus. I have a lot of songs in the works and will hopefully be posting more soon. Here is the old material.

Damnit now I just listed to your song Decadent Houses while I was still bowled over by Butterfly typhoon. Good thing I was already knocked down because Decadent Houses is incredibly amazing. I wish I had the talent to try it but its outside my abilities so I can just stare in awe and wonder. Wow.

If your up more TSC for it I could attempt "Back to the hollows" As with all my attempts some don't make it off the cutting floor but I dig it and it would be fun to try.

I would love it if you did a version of Butterfly Typhoon. Your version of The Passerby is such a creative take on the song that I can’t help but be intrigued. I’m flattered really. Thank you for the kind words about the song. Of everything I’ve done it’s probably the closest to my heart.

Thank you for the kind words TSC. By all means, any song of mine you're interested in working with is free game. I'm glad you liked Decadent Houses as well. And I'm very curious to hear what you might bring to the table with Butterfly Typhoon.
Never Let You Go is really addictive, man. The vocal melody is very simple, but is an absolute earworm. But the lyrics and the double meaning in the title really puts it over. I'm hooked.
And Scott, thanks for the compliments for The Sky Hits The Ground. The Kayak feature was an awesome surprise.

@ Mike I think PM does not work.
You can email me at valkenhome@hotmail.com and I'll send you a drop box link to get the mp3 for "The passerby" cover
If you want to mess around with with "never let you go" you can have your way with it. If not it's cool no commitments or pressure.
I think I did that one in 432 hrtz tuning
For now Butterfly Typooon is next up on my list of viticims for a TSC Spin it ought to be interesting. Stay tuned.
Cheers,
TSC
