Butterfly Typhoon cover of Shane Willard now streaming Live
I have an arrangement for Butterfly Typhoon but I've been limited in time. I hope to get started on production sometime soon.
In my version I added a middle verse not because I think I'm some fantastic writer but because in the original version Shane Willard wrote every time the song was over it made me sad because it was so short.
Hopefully this song will be available soon with the TSC spin. I'll say it took an unexpected turn I thought it was going one way and then it just had a mind of its own and developed differently than I expected.
Its not the first time this happens now I just let the process guide me and let the song live as it chooses.
Big thanks to Shane for allowing his song to become a TSC cover victim.

Thanks for recording this very creative arrangement of Butterfly Typhoon. I’ve given it a couple listens and am really digging on it. I love that you made it your own. I like your added verse too. It’s not what I expected but based on what I’ve heard from from your other material I expected it to be not what I expected, if that makes sense. Hearing this made my day. I’m glad I said yes to this. Can I have an mp3?

Hey Shane,
Well it kind of had a mind of its own and turned out differently that I thought it would too from when I started. PM does not work so you can email me at valkenhome@hotmail.com and I can send you a link to download the MP3.
As with my other covers including Mike's song "the passerby" I don't really try to copy the original version. Instead I listen to what the song says to me.
They talk to me in whispers and I have learned to go with the guidance that the song provides. I try to at least give the a haunting of the original so it can still be placed. The reason I added the extra verse was that every time I listened to your version which was a lot I was so sad that it was over so I added a verse to extend it.
It was great to cover Butterfly typhoon. I had fun with it. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for allowing your creation to become part of the TSC cover victim family.
Since you said this song was close to your heart I tried my best to make it special.
Thank you for the kind words,
TSC

This is a beautiful rendition! Surprisingly upbeat. It's amazing how the tone of a song can alter the meaning of its words. The original feels like a lament about how quickly things fall apart, and the feelings of regret that are left in their wake. This version feels hopeful. Small actions can similarly bring about positive upturns. Breaking free from misery. Maybe I am misinterpreting one or both iterations, but together they feel to me like bookends.
Incidentally, I have been working on a cover of Never Let You Go. It might be a while until I can finish it as time has been in short supply, but I hope to make progress on it this coming week.

Hey Mike,
Thanks for stopping by. I think your interpretation is spot on. Another song I did with a similar theme is Alpha Omega - How hard they fall. With desperate lyrics and upbeat tempo.
Knowing that your spending time on "Never Let You Go" is a great compliment.
I am looking forward to hearing you version since it seems like you actually know how to play guitar. As for me me I'm a bass player converted to medeocre guitar player. Sometimes I don't even know what the chords are that I'm playing becuse I just make them up. I'm sure they are real chords but I don't know what some of them are. I just let the sound guide me.
I'm sure your version of Never Let You Go will be fantastic.

Beautiful version, Ken. This time you stayed closer to the original than usual, but with an added dimension - sounds super good.
Also honored to find out that Lime Translucent required out of the ordinary equipment! haha
