HAH! At least YOU, took a quick look.
Naw, basically just bored, and kind of sad that IAC listeners MOSTLY like Beatles/Retro Stuff, and put a bit too much emphasis on praising they who have gone before us...rather than focusing on REAL, Living Artists, of TODAY....
So ANYHOO......
here's another John Lennon/Beatles-esque tune,
written and sung by pHLeGm, and played by his gang of misfits
- RAW = yes,
LIVE = yes,
but catchy as FUCK.
"Everyday It's a Bran-New World" (LIVE, and Lo-Phi a la pHLeGm)

The Beatles are still alive as long as the grave diggers like you are still lurching with a guitar in hand......
.......and and and Elvis works in my local fish and chip shop.
At least Kurt Cobain is still alive

YEAH.
But ya gotta admit it..... It's CATCHY, english beat sounding SHITE, and you KNOW you want to include it in your SIDE Project, with pHLeGm....
It needs to be recorded professionally, with all the beatles veneer, spit and polish, and bells and catchy-assed whistles;
and fuckin' Schoooool of Product Recall, with sounds just to coooool for beatles/grunge/acid rock/metal guitar.....
so HERE it IS again, in it's ORIGINAL Shite-philled, lo-phi phorm:
"EveryDay it's a Bran-new World - LIVE and bleeding with raw lo-fi"

What about Mozart? Is he off limits and all?

Of course not, Woodstock!! Most of my strongest inspirations in Music are already either dead, or dying. But then of course we all are.
But it got ya to stop in to the blog, right?
So, honestly, once you take into account the extreme lo-phi nature of the recording, whadaya think of my Beatles-influenced Pop tune? C'mon wOoDy, I know You're a pretty big fan of that whole 60's british invasion sound....

There is great potential in this song, I can dig it Bro!
I think you should have waited to post it after you had a decent recording. The averge listener will dismiss it after the first five seconds, and as a result think recordings like this represent you the artist.
I will be honest, when I first listened to you way back when,I did not think much of you because the first tunes I heard were recordings like this. It is only when I dug deeper and heard the well recorded tunes that my opinion of you changed. You do yourself a disservice by letting the excitement of a new tune get the best of you.We all have tunes waiting to be recorded, good things come to those who wait.
Just a friendly suggestion, take it or leave it.... :) I really like the song and appreciate what you are doing, big time!!!However,. The average listener won't recognize it as they won't get past the recording. They are spoiled, and have too many choices that are recorded well. Sadly, many will take a poorly written song that is recorded well over a live garage take. I don't mind live, but this recording just does not sound good to my ears, and does not do your talent justice. I hope you take this in the spirit it was given, from a fellow artist/writer. You are the custodian of your musical reputation, keep this in mind when you present your music to the public.
Regards,
Jeff

Great song, Phlegm! I look forward to hearing it recorded the way you want it. For me, it has an Electric Light Orchestra feel. Lennon was a very big ELO fan, according to a 1974 interview.

I like it. It's catchy, as you say, and has the kind of vibe I really like. There is a very special kind of energy around the first recording of a new song, and in spite of the poor sound quality you've captured some of that here.
But I think Jeff makes some excellent points about the content vs the recording - in the longterm this song deserves better, and I'd love to hear the result of a higher-fi recording session with this number. I expect lots of other people would enjoy it too.

Thanks for checkin' it out y'all.
Jeff, you've got a point. Richard, Woody..... I do hope someday to be in a situation where I can record OH-SO many songs that I have bubbling up in my sub-conscious all the time. BUT, for NOW, Lo-Fi is what I got.
That's why I tried to keep the higher quality recordings under the Band page....
I know it's a CRAZY idea, but I like to think someday somebody'll wanna hear these tunes, even if lo-fi is all I can get at for now....

Yes, its lofi, but its still a good tune, have you tried running a noise reduction or aural exciter on it?
Sometimes that will make it worse, but sometimes it can help, anyway, you would need the original analog(even if its on cassette) recording to try that,
Good tune, keep it up.
