saving face, keeping up an image, etc.

does being dishonest not completely fuck up your image?
being a phony douche is a worthwhile approach to the media?

I may be in an uber minority on this, but, I would much rather have a bunch of assholes angered at me or a group of anyones think less of me for my opinions, thoughts, or words, than be known as a dishonest untrustworthy person. For fucksake, to me that sounds completely counter to what I think actually sells records. What about all of those sophomore albums recorded by new up and comers where they spend waaay too much time and money on a compromised product only to be disappointed in sales, and disappointing fans through insincerity.

I understand this douche is just a manager, and like I said I may be in the minority on this one, but I would not want to be famous for some bullshit I pulled. That would be the worse nightmare ever.

..he's actually not 'just a manager' he is THE CEO and a very powerful man, what I meant to imply is that he is not a performing artist and that his actions may or may not be critical to the creative process in most artists lives, but arguably tarnishing the artists he represents.

well I agree with you, if the shit's too deep for an artist to be honest, then get out of where you are.

course being honest does get you in a lot of trouble usually.

totally agree - "I lie only to correct the perspective" ??!! um no - a lie is never the correct perspective. And lies by the management enslaves the artist to keep it up and feel phony. Who knows how the Eagles felt about this point of view though - they sure did OK haha

obviously, he has a point by saying (essentially), 'everyone's doing it', and no one is going to curb dishonest business practices in the executive/managerial corridors, and I concede to that.

ehh, it doesn't even really matter down here on the cloudy bottom anyway. it's not like there is a boatload of money on the line. I have no skin in the game.
