Coming to terms with having a sweet tooth for pop.
I would love to have the musical savvy to bang out s bunch of exotic artists/bands that inspire me, and there are a few that exist in my world, but when I travel back through my memories and the musical hallmarks dotting my past, they consist of Stevie wonder, Christopher Cross, Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson, Madonna, GoGos, Wham, REM, Howard Jones, Pearl Jam, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Sia
I'm sorry if I offended anyone by this post, haha

As far as I'm concerned, there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure when it comes to music. I've taken a lot of abuse over the years for various bands that are among my personal favorites.
The Carpenters - I consider Karen to have the greatest voice of all time.
Bread - soft rock I lost my virginity to. :)
Culture Club - I think Boy George is one of the great underrated lyricists.
oh and I'm soon covering a song by the Osmonds and have one in the tank that's a take off of a song by Olivia Newton John. heh

I'm not offended at all. I like all those folks you mentioned. I love Pop music also. I love music. Many kinds of music. I think music snobs are ridiculous. Just because someone prefers classical or Jazz music doesn't mean they have better taste than anyone else. People like what they like and we are all different. Personally, two of my favorite artists of the day are Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. I am sure there are not many folks here that would admit that. People come in all shapes, sizes, colors and nationalities. So do their musical tastes. By the way, Stevie Wonder is on my all time favorite list. One of the best songwriters and performers the world has ever known.

Stevie is prob my all time favorite, too. My very first memories of songs from the radio were Wish and Sir Duke. Those songs made me bonkers as far back as I can recall. They would take me over, I would lose my shit as soon as I heard those ascending horns on sir duke, and they still have that effect. Those creamy brass harmonies,.. Oh man. I would go as far as saying that would be the one song if I could only choose one.
..Carpenters, oh yeah, another great and fav of mine.
