My kids are the greatest!
I have been struggling to finish this album because my software is limited, but I have bullied through, right up to the point where my shit keeps crashing and I nearly lost the entire album progress over the last month due to corrupt audio files.
I simply wanted to mix it and master it and get it out, but I hit a wall due to these issues.

Some of you know I stroked out at work last year and was bed ridden for several months, and lost my job. - hence revisiting my music roots because I can do it from home and at my own pace. I didn't want to turn into a veg so I decided to be productive in a way that wouldn't put me in the hospital. It's easy to put 16 hours a day into honing my chops and working out arrangements, especially with the support I get from my family.

Well, it was my birthday earlier this week, and the kids knew I was struggling with garageband. So they all pitched in and bought me Logic Pro x, which is the Pro Tools equivalent (exclusive to mac computers)

I always say it takes a village, and I have always supported their artistic whims, and that includes their posse of friends too. I have to say that it feels pretty damn awesome to be appreciated like this. I am beside myself.

..and Logic Pro is the fuckin shit!! I've been playing with it all week. I feel like a kid with free reign in a candy store.
I have my work cut out for me to rebuild all these song arrangement templates, but I am on the home stretch.

Now to just get over this goddamn cold/flu, haha

I did not know of your challenges and struggles health wise Fred. That is really tough to go through that whole thing. I feel for you in you losing your job on top of everything as well. You are a lucky man to have such support though and having those that care about you to assist in your recovery. As for your kids, very cool. double lucky. Great to have the time to work your chops and learn new things, well done.

best

Happy belated birthday! And hope you are feeling stronger every minute. Logic Pro is the best! We were in heaven when we first switched over to it. It does a zillion things and it's all really easy to do compared to every single other program - Pro Tools included, I think. Your kids sound fabulous - I guess you raised them right!

Happy Birthday Noah & His Spaceship.

You Truly Do Have Awesome Kids, that is so cool.

Get enough rest, it's alright to you know.
And try to have faith, I know it's hard, nobody knows that like me.

It's going to be alright.

That's what a friend keeps telling me. Yeah, there's the tendency
to wanna work 'round the clock, especially if you now have
a system you can really do that with...

but get enough rest; take care of you.

You're irreplaceable. Just ask them.

Sorry to hear about the stroke, so a belated "that fuckin SUCKS, man". Jesus.

Sounds like you have found a positive pathway for your energy, though, which is all we can really hope for in life IMO. Reading about your kids made me smile inside. Looks like you did something right!

I appreciate all the good wishes, I feel awkward sharing that kind of shit, but my kids have really been my backbone for the last year, and I wanted to celebrate and share their awesomeness.

I would like to think i wouldn't be putting this kind of time into a project if I didn't think it would be worth it, but either way I will be coming out on the other side with a very dialed setup for the next one, and a steep learning curve, a gratifying memory. :)

Oh God. Well it was three in the morning.

Jesus you had a stroke... I didn't get that the first read.
God make Noah all better.

Take time to take time.
If you are remotely like me you burn the candle at both ends
and then light the middle.

Yes your kids are totally off the charts awesome.
Makes me wish I'd had kids.

You're a lucky and blessed man, stop and smell the roses.
And thank you for sharing this.

It put a little more life in my life, reading it.

Happy Birthday Noah! So sorry about your stroke man. It is a tough thing. I had mine on Nov. 22, 2003 6:37 am. It has been a long haul back but I am still chugging away. I was paralyzed on the left side for all of about 3 weeks. They said I would never walk again. I was up walking a month later. Granted, I was dragging my left leg but I was walking. I now walk 4 1/2 miles at 5:30 am every morning and I don't have even have a limp. The key is to totally ignore what "THEY" say about your prognosis. They are only guessing according to what previous patients have done. Consider yourself unique and give yourself higher expectations. The harder you work at it the better you will get. Only you can determine your true prognosis.

Logic is the best out there (in my opinion) and I have used almost all of them. It was required in recording engineering. My two favorites are Logic and Reason. I like to rewire Reason into Logic or Pro Tools. Very powerful tools indeed. But I like Pro Tools also. Looking forward to hearing your project when you get through the learning curve.
