Only problem, Ken, is UA does not make these units any more. And to purchase a used 1176, it is going to set you back nearly $2,000 or more.
What Hairball Audio has done (to the best of my knowledge) is selected several of the classic rack outboard gear unavailable to purchase new and copied them down to the smallest detail.
There are other DIY kits out there, but these Hairballs look great.
But totally agree, as far as buying used when I can.
These DIY kits require full assembly. You get a box of parts, so have your soldering station read to go and your fluke at your side as well.
$600 is still a boatload of money, and if you want to run stereo bus compression, you need two of these bad boys.
