Ken ~

Congrats on a masterful and revolutionary version of a classic song. I've always felt that the original version was not as dark in it's performance and arrangement as the lyrics called for. Your version captures the bleak and apocalyptic essence of the song that I think it was meant to have. The sign flashes a warning but we don't heed the warning. The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls but we don't pay attention because we are too busy bowing to the neon god (I assume that's TV, but the song was prophetic in and of itself since it applies even more today as the computer which wasn't even invented when the song was written has now become the new "neon god".) Many of us have been lulled into being silent about what is wrong with the world but this will be our undoing as "silence like a cancer grows".

When I pour my heart and soul into writing songs that have little to no chance of being published or widely appreciated and recognized I think of the line "people writing songs that voices never share". Doesn't that pretty much sum up the state of the music business today and apparently even in 1964? Some things never change,

This song was so ahead of it's time. When I watch political debates I see "People talking without speaking" and when I watch people believing the lies I think of "People hearing without listening".

Well, I could go on but I just wanted to thank you Ken for re-imagining this song for me and bringing it all back home to my consciousness after not having heard it in years. It's an important and timeless song that reminds us that silence = apathy
and apathy has terrible consequences.

You have created a aural landscape that immerses the listener from the first sound to the last sound. I felt enveloped in a fog of darkness where the guitar and the voices flickered like candles endeavoring to pierce through and illuminate the emotions and messages of the song. It was very, very compelling. You win, my friend. My jaw dropped to the floor and my perception of the original version has been forever supplanted by your version.

Richard,
I agree with you this song was way ahead of it's time in fact I think its timeless. It "echoes in the wells of silence" for all time.

The song is like a lingering shadow that looms over you and even when the shadow has past you still shiver form the cold that it left in your soul.

You provided such eloquent and excellent examples of verses from the song in history which was a wonderful treat.

I don't know what to say. Its like you took every ounce of energy that was put into this song and summed it up in a way that I never could.

I could not even have dared to hope for such a honor that you have presented.

Thank you for being the one who gets it, the one who the song connects with because when there is one there will be more. You are the ripple that starts the tidal wave Richard.

You are the one who wins Richard your review really leaves me speechless.
Thank you I know its not enough but Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
TSC,
Ken
