heratics and rebels
Once again, my blog is moved away from the front page by our merciful moderator, Toby.
In no way does this upset me, the effect on me is quite the contrary. The thought that I have pushed the envelope hanging ten off the edge in the pipeline is rather exciting. Some of you may think I am posting for just that, a cheap thrill, i suggest that, because I have to wonder about that myself. The excitement of an invigourating conversation and moderation inhibiting the continuation of said conversation does have it's appeal and I am no stranger, nor free from guilt of that behavior in the past. But ultimately, I am here for bigger reasons, that (I hope) are not so selfish. This brings me to the topic for this blog.
I have not been silenced like a rebellious heratic. I refer to Toby as merciful, because he has been merciful and allowed some radical threads of mine to stay on the pipeline for much longer than I expected. For this I thank you, my man. But I am a rebel, and I am a heratic. My motivation is not so much for the cheap thrill as it is to share the cheap thrill. We all could use a little spice in our life. The thrill of something seemingly so mundane like typing can actually get the blood flowing rather well when you are engaged with others in the blogosphere.
But this isn't the whole of it either, because as sweet as a good conversation can be, the subject matter trumps the thrill. The thrill is fleeting while the idea, like a seed remains.
We as a society need radicals, we need heratics. Why? well that is my question. Why do we need radical rebels speaking out from atop their milk crates bellowing thought provoking seeds intended to solventize the senses and soften up tempered perceptions?
Do you agree with questioning authority?
Does radical rebellious behavior make things worse?

Isn't it part of mans evolutional make up to have 'rebellious behavior'. In our chosen medium we celebrate those who show and encourage the questioning of authority. We are not drones to society its in human nature to question, evaluate and action change. So be it, do it. Personally i love the way you have spiced up the pipeline, you have raised some good points that have made pipeline bloggers do what is natural to their instinctive core. Question. Evaluate and action change to themselves and their fruitless paths.

It is in our nature as artists for sure to question authority. Authority is to chains as the masses are to Prometheus. The influence that binds our freedom of thought takes the awe out of the experience and limits our perception to a peephole.
How do they (the perverbial authority) pull it off?
My theory it is through fear.
For example, I fear my blog will be moved if I get too radical. Well, it will be moved if I get too radical. My fear is not unfounded, but will I let that bind me?
No, the thought that I am being monitored heightens my senses.
Some folks (as pointed out in a thread @ Not the Pipeline posted today) are quick to cry about censorship. They make a fuss and the substance of their message is lost in a futile attempt to change the unchangable. We would not need moderators if there weren't people who were unnable to moderate themselves.
Consider the art of sattire,.. "All in the Family" back in the day pushed that threshold of censorship through innuendo and obscure implication hidden within the writing.
We (especially artists) have ways to get around the censors, and not only that, but doesn't moderation challenge us to be even more creative in how we present our "Rebellious Anthems"?

You've changed your tune quickly. Wasn't 2 weeks ago when you posted that you wanted more anons here. You've also preached about wanting flames and adversity.
Of course when some comes your way you've now spun in a different direction. Now it's not the message at all you want to address, it's this excuse for not doing so you put forward.

@bluto - forgive me for being confused.
I realize my thought process moves quickly, and I tend to pass over details occasionally and sometimes leave things out.
But, I have the same opinion of you. (i thought you were cool too) I do think anons are people, I figure they post anonymously because they are either pussies or just having fun and avoiding reprocussions, either way, that is your perogative. I am totally cool with that.
I enjoy anons, because I enjoy flame wars, guilty pleasure. I enjoy posting foul words and anons are easy targets. Besides, if you are here to have fun and avoid reprocussions, you are a vital part of the conversation because as serious as I can be and as often as I sport my heart on my sleave, I like to keep a tone of playfullness.
So, call it how you see it. I just don't understand how straddling the fence puts me on one side or the other.

the hate and gripe blog was one of my favorites ever. It just sucks that they get moved off the pipe and end up being lost and forgotton.

It's logical that if non-artists listeners do come around to read the blogs, it doesn't make a good impression you constantly sniping the site the way you do. I have been watching this off and on all evening, because I am a lurking voyueristic bastard. Personally, I like Bluto - but you are God on this thread (at least Jesus) so it was awesome to see him get nuked (sorry, Bluto, but I am an admitted bastard, see above).
