chivalry and bowling
My soon to be father in law is on an ameteur bowling team. He isn't a big gabber, he says very little most of the time. But the other day, I saw an excitement about him that is rare. He was telling me how his team was in a heavy competetion and they were on their way to victory. One of his team members was two strikes away from a perfect game. His team member, extremely focused, peered down the lane, made his aproach, released the ball, it swerved down the lane, and BAM! - strike- .. as the team cheered, my father in law noticed a look of disapointment on the face of his team member. Before he could ask about the disapointed look, the teammate edited the strike to show a foul. Confused, and eager to know, the team grills the guy,.."what? foul? ...what's going on??" The member who now appeared to be one strike away from bowling a perfect game informs his the team that his hand went over the line, and that the strike was no good. The team groaning in disapointment again grills the man,.." we didn't see anything, are you sure??" and encouraged him to reconsider his decision. The team member refused stating that he knew, and it wouldn't be right, and a perfect game isn't a perfect game if you have to cheat. He racks a new set of pins and mows them all down for a spare. (essentially bowling another strike) The rest of the team bowls their turns, and the Chivalrous individual continues to bowl yet another strike. My father in law was so excited telling me about this game that I realize not just how awesome my father in law is for thinking it was cool that his team mate forfeited what could have been a perfect game and noone would have been the wiser, but that his team mate through bowling demonstrated that chivalry is still alive and worth sacrificing bragging rights to a perfect game for the satisfaction of knowing you actually bowled it.

"the teammate edited the strike to show a foul. Confused, and eager to know, the team grills the guy,.."what? foul? ..."
Rare attribute in todays world. Few would do that...playing by the rules...that is and knowing them, not ignoring them.
This person certainly has a high sense of purpose and honors values, and values honor
thanks
