Nice work Jeff.
I'm always touched by this sort of writing and I think it's almost unique to independent music...

Nice work, Jeff. This is very well written, performed and tracked.
Let me know if you'd like a couple mix comments. Some folks don't mind, others do.
Best,

Jeff....BRAVO! I love the honesty of the lyrics and the beautiful guitar work. Melodically, the chorus is classic and perfect. The strings and the lead guitar are nice touches tastefully done. I think this is one of your best if not your best song.
Congratulations. I'd love to hear a nice bass guitar on this track but it's great as is.

Hey, Thanks ! Steve and Frater very cool of you to add it to a station, I appreciate it very much. Richard, Thanks for the high compliment! I made a comment on another thread that as writers and Artists we always think Our latest work is the best... I am glad you like it, that means alot. This is a slow Ballad, its not always easy to pull them together.
Thanks Kevin, If you want to send me a separate e-mail on the mix, that's cool. I tracked this til late last night, and mixed it when I woke up...I probably have ear fatigue. Listening now, I can a hear many little things that I would do different. :)
I enjoy mixing very much, but sometimes I am too close to the work and too much in a hurry to get it done sometimes. It's a little to Hot,but I was trying to get the volume up... I guess it's not bad for an unshaven a guy in his underwear :) My wife and son are away this weekend, I am sure you can appreciate my desire to take advantage of the Recording time and get it in the can.:)
Thanks again guys...I appreciate it.
Jeff

Absolutely, Jeff ... and your notice was basically mine.
I'll PM you.
It wouldn't be the first time a home recordist got excited about what they did and posted up enthusiastically.
Guilty as charged w/ me too.
I know you care about production, so I thought I'd make mention in case you wanted the opinion of another set of ears. When one works alone (as we do), then extra sets of ears are valued (at least I value them).
All the while .. bear in mind it's only the opinion of another set of ears.

By the title I was all set to feel a certain way about it. I always prejudge it's my nature. But on the flip side my prejudgments melt away fairly quickly. The first thing I liked was the guitar very much. But I wasn't sold until the strings kicked in and that raised my attention level and I started to hear the beautiful subtle melody you were singing and midway through the guitar solo I was really liking this song. This song has a ease about it that gives it it's strength. I now even like the title. Good job!

Thanks Rich!
I sent the note via artist mail.
btw ... Jeff ... take what I said as just what I'd do if my hands were on the console, and the underlying explanations as to "why this is what I'd do" are to justify position only, for you likely already knew the sonic fundamentals regarding what I suggested.
Best,

Very Nice Jeff!
I have added the song to "Texas Willie's New Releases" station. And FWIW I started this station to try and fill the void left by Raymond Porter's departure.
I am going through all the new releases every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.....God willing and Honeydooo.....don't!

Very nice tune. Well written, played and sung. I could easily hear a version of this on mainstream country radio.
Knowing some of the back-story makes it even more poignant. Sorry about your mom. I miss mine.

Just listened to your song about your mom and drinking problem and you have so sexy voice with good guitaring also so it doesn't really matter for the notes I think. There are so many the mothers have sadly passed at IAC. There is Loren and Raymond and Tommy and Gina and more I think but Jeff song is best song for tribute even more than for Ray and that was winning KIAC Gold I think.
Thank you, my mother is 41 so I am lucky to have now but my grandmama was dying last year and for tribute I have only the flowers. I think of to write a song but my grandmama was not liking music very mush
