Long Live the King.
I was watching a show about Elvis last night. They were talking about one of his Ed Sullivan show appearances and how they wanted him to play his rock and roll hits. But he had told his mom he would sing Peace in the Valley, a gospel tune. So he insisted and did.
One of the 45s that was passed on to me to play on my first toy record player was Hounddog. My buddy and I played it over and over again, it made us laugh and smile.
We'll never have a rock icon go to war in the middle of his career again. Elvis was a natural. He and Cobain are like bookends of the history of rock.
