news in brief:
1. i'm on the radio on michael gordon's show on northsound. on sunday night.
(7-10pm uk time, listen online @ www.northsound1.com)
2. dundee gig on the 19th october cancelled.
3. Earthworm emergency.
dear iac people, two things, the gig on the 19th of october in dundee has been cancelled due to unforeseen technical illness difficulties, and there's a radio session being broadcast on northsound on michael gordon's show. bless the man and his dying breed of quality indie radio broadcasting. poppy and i recorded last week when we were in aberdeen, it was early in the morning, so i'm a bit croaky, but pop plays well, i remember we were talking a lot about composting before the interview, which i think is mentioned during the interview, and referred to as a 'theme'. ,which, being the only time it's mentioned during the interview, obviously won't be a theme to you, but to us on that day, it was, and is, a new source of joy for me. i've even considered calling the new record 'composting for the soul', which is what i consider these books i carry round with me to be, filled with diary entries, pictures, sketches, neurosis, and aborted song lyrics, all breaking down and mulching together to make a new life. let's be honest though. it's a guff name for an album. anything with the word 'soul' in is at least slightly suspect. I am a great believer in soul, but that it should be nurtured and cared for, and not talked about too much, and written down even less. i've already said too much.
urine is packed full of nitrogen, and can be added to a compost heap as an 'activator'
earth worms are a healthy addition to any compost heap., helping to break down organic matter, apparently there has been some kind of disease here, and there are no earth worms in edinburgh. how come i've not heard about this before!. how did this happen?, i dug for two hours the other day and sure enough, nothing!. oh god someone help us. why hasn't there been some kind of state of emergency declared? ,i'm serious about this. do you know how much the break down of leaves and organic matter which continues the fertility of the earth, depend upon the earthworm. one earth worm can can compost forty tonnes of soil in a year. (or is it four) we have to do something. that's it. i'm getting in touch with danny from hearsay and darius, we're going to put on a reality tv reject, 'worm aid' benefit gig.
